I have a 30 gallon gas container that I find difficult to move. I figure it weights over 200 pounds. I considered welding a quick attach plate to it, but I was reluctant to weld to a gasoline container and did not want to use up my last quick attach plate for a single use purpose. I figured if I could attach a strap with a ratchet to a quick attach plate, it would be easy to move.
I bought two steel cable clamps and welded the u-bolts to the quick attach plate. I cut the bolts short with about a 45 degree angle on the cut, so I would have a lot of welding area. I had to grind a little metal out of the center of the u-bolts to have room to put the cable hook in. I put a board over the end of the quick attack plate to allow the tank to clear the hooks. I hope this is strong enough. I picked up the tank and it worked fine, but it was only half full.
