slowzuki...
I just now read your profile. Aren't suzuki samurais a hoot. I've a half dozen buddies that run em just a few miles from my farm. They are like a civilized quad. You get a wingman, stay dry (mostly), heat in the winter (heat in the summer too), and a couple have radios. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Amazing how well they get around in the woods, and creeks. Just too much fun. I'll see if I can digitize some of our movies and share.
Cheers, edski

The forum seems to be taking it easy on you. I am certainly glad that you weren't killed or injured, but my sympathy factor is pretty low for burying your machine.
I would rather make an important point than a friend... Operating heavy machinery under the influence is a good way to get killed.

Hollander.. sorry about my comments yesterday.. that being said.. I haven't seen any one say.. Welcome to TBN!

Some pictures might help.. if your really really stuck.. can't be reached by other machinery.. you might have to bring in a set of ground tracks to get it initially unstuck. If a winch can't cut it.. then a chain hoist might work.. it won't be fun. Good luck!

If I remember right, open bottle in Texas is legal? Unless they have changed it. But any machine under the influence no matter where it is, is dangerous. If your out there all alone and your the only one hurt, that would be fine with most people. However, do you have a wife and kids who would be hurt if something did happen to you. What if you tipped that tractor over in the mud instead of just getting it stuck. You know you wouldn't have been able to write to us all and tell us about it. You would be just another statistic. Instead of being in the owning/operating thread you would be in the safety thread, no not you but the story, you would be in a pine box. I have pictures of my kids all over the place to remind me that they need me. Nothing wrong with a drink or two but it does have it's place and it's not on any equipment. Along with the other guys on TBN I welcome you. And I want to be reading your good tractor experiences a year from now.

Yep, Murph, they've changed it and made open containers illegal now.

Bird,

I think that is great. The open bottle just made it too easy to drink too much.

I don't. Just another stupid law on the books that does absolutely no good for anyone except make folks opposed to drinking feel good. Believe me, I'm as opposed to drunk driving as anyone, and I've put many folks in jail for it. But to find a drunk driver who is drinking while he's driving is a very rare occurrence. They get drunk at home, at parties, and/or in bars, then get caught driving. I'd probably never be able to find it now, but there was just the smallest of articles in the newspaper a little over 20 years ago about one study that was done that concluded the guy who has actually had only 2 beers is the safest driver on the road. Yeah, I know it's customary for drunk drivers to tell the officer they've only had 2 beers, but of course it ain't true. So now the guy who might drink a beer on the way home has to stop at the bar first and may stay and drink too much. It's a far too complicated a topic to go into on this forum, but an open container law has never reduced the number of drunk drivers on the road or made things safer, but passing such a law gets MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) off the legislators' backs and sounds good to the anti-drinking folks.

Bird,

I guess I never thought of it that way. I guess I just looked at it as well if I can one or two on the way home what is wrong with 3 or 4. And on the interstates and traffic jams I guess I thought 3 to 4 could end up being 5 or 6. When I was younger I drank way too much and did way too much driving while drunk. I have dreams of how stupid that was and totally quit drinking. I may have two beers now in a years time. In fact I was in Mexico a few months back and brought home a bottle of Tequilla. I haven't even opened it yet and why I brought it home I don't know because two years from now it probably will be sitting in the cupboard, unopened along with the bottle of Rum that I brought back from someplace 5 years ago and it isn't open yet.
