Buying Advice sub compact or compact tractor?

Don't get too hung up on lift specs. I think some are a little more conservative than others. Also some rate at the pin while others are 500mm for the loader and 24'' for the 3PH.

I am starting to think this poster is in Sales.

You've been a member since May 2012. Why are you still in the "Looking" stage. You can't finally buy an LS?

I was looking when I joined and bought a JD. Sold it recently and now I'm looking again. LS is the top contender if I buy something smaller. But I'm still debating whether I should spend more and move up to the CUT size. In which case, there are several good choices. Thanks for your concern though.

I'm pretty sure the the BX will lift more than what it is rated to on the 3PH. I think the L4240 will lift more than what it is supposed to on the loader but I need to do some more testing.

Upon thinking more about my post above, If you buy from a dealer, you might ask them to demo it doing post holes. And regarding the pond digging, I guess a pond can be an 8' diameter 1 foot deep or can be 80 feet diameter or more and 10 - 15 feet deep. So I guess it depends on what you are planning. You might want to post what size of pond you are considering. It could make a difference on recommendations.

I am planning on having them drop a cs2410 off for me sometime in the summer to try it out at my house with my soil and me running it. If a larger tractor is what I need then I am willing to wait but if the smaller tractor will do it and still last with minimal problems then obviously I want one sooner then later :)

As for the pond I'm not thinking big just maybe as I need dirt for this and that, take out a scoop and eventually there will be a pond. Also for digging I was thinking to break the soil up with the box blade first then scoop out the dirt? maybe a bit time consuming but easier on the tractor?

I just took a look at the Kioti CS2410 on the web. It looks like a good unit. My only reservation is the post hole digging. But I'm not saying it wont do it, I just dont know that it will.

Maybe I am reading to much between the lines but sounds like you need a little bit bigger tractor!!

I think a scut will do most of what he's talking about. Besides you can rent a walk behind post hole auger or other type of post hole auger.

My only concern with that would be the lift height of the 3pt ... I drilled a bunch of holes with my CK20, and it did a good job power wise (though I almost buried it a few times). HP is comparable between that and the CS2410 but I'm assuming the 3pt lift height was higher.

If I decide to go SCUT I will make sure the dealer shows me how to hook up the post hole digger and box blade and that it will work satisfactorily for me before I would ever sign the papers. It would be great if it works but if it doesn't I'm not wasting my money.

Why don't you rent a machine for the pond?

I think the CS2410 has a limited cat 1 hitch. If he gets a PHD for a SCUT he should be fine.
