Sub-Soiler/Ripper with a CUT?

That Kubota must have some power.
We pull a 5 shank sub-soiler w/220 hp.
Case tractor w/mfwd and duals.
We usually rip 18-22" deep one pass.
The ripper has wings on the points to
lift and shatter the soil.

HoeMan,
Hmmm... Obviously I'm confusing some terminology. What I have has 3 shanks offset behind 2 shanks. The shanks are about 24 inches long/tall and are springloaded to the chassis. The springs don't spring in soil, just if you hit something. The cutting edge is what I call a subsoiler, sort of narrow and aggressive. Because they are dull, I probably only cut to about 8-12 inches on the first pass. The previous owner of this item and the guy I'm borrowing it from (who both called it a subsoiler) pulled it with similar tractors.

So maybe I'm not sure what to call what I'm using, but it breaks the soil up real nice prior to disking, and it works with a small tractor.

I believe what you are talking about is a chisel plow.

Sorry, both the pics of the Celli Spader and the Chisel plow are from the MarketFarm.com web site, and are not my tractors.

You can buy the tractor umbrellas at a farm supply store, Tractor Supply Company is one example. I have one mounted on my Kubota and it works really well, but you cannot use it around trees. The umbrella includes the mounts, but you might have to get a little creative to attach it to the tractor. The roll bar prevents you from mounting the umbrella low but it will angle to block the sun.

We sell that Tufline brand subsoiler and from experience, the 1 shank is plenty for your tractor--that Tufline 1S-28 in the picture has a standard 28 inch shank--There are other brands with less penetration capabilities (15-20 inches) for lot less money that the Tufline---Ken Sweet
