I'm having a hard time visualizing what you guys had to do on your 2210's, maybe because it is quite a bit different than the seating area on my 4110.

I'm posting a few pictures of my 4110 seating area in various stages of disassembly so maybe that will help to explain what needs to be done. Please bear with me on the lengthy descriptions...

This photo is with the seat assembly completely removed except for the top and bottom rails. It is taken from the left side of the tractor. Looking at the rail near the top of the photo, the two studs on the end of the rail are about 8.5 inches apart. The second stud near the front of the rail is about one inch from the front stud. The two rails are 7-7/8 inches center to center. The rails (tops and bottoms) can be removed by taking out a bolt on each end of each rail from underneath the frame. The top rail seems to be held in to the bottom rail by a couple of tabs that limit the sliding it can do. I guess if I bent the tabs out, the top rail could be slid out from the front.

You can also see the "operator presence" switch laying between the two rails.

Second photo to come in another post...

Thanks,
Ira

The second photo is with the "bottom half" of the seat frame installed, again from the left side of the tractor. This frame bolts to the top rails using six bolts (you can only see five of them). This is all one piece. The piece on the left that contains the holes for the seat pin is welded to the other piece so they don't come apart.

I think this part has to be replaced because it forces the front of the seat to remain in one place, only allowing it to pivot around the seat pin.

Third photo to come...

Thanks,
Ira

This photo shows the top half of the seat frame installed. It is held in by two long bolts going thru the two main springs that sit between the top and bottom parts of the frame (not the small springs that you see) and attaching to bolts welded to the underside of the top rails. It attaches to the front of the bottom frame with the same pin that holds the seat on. The pin is not there yet.

The seat belt and operator presence switch are attached to this part.

I assume this part must also be replaced.

Last photo to come...

Thanks,
Ira

The last photo shows everything back in place with the seat tilted forward. This picture shows how the long seat pin holds the seat and both parts of the frame together at the front of the seat. It also shows how the front of the seat is held in one position except that it can rotate around the pin.

With the seat slid as far forward as possible, there is about 6.25 inches between the top of the seat cushion and the bottom of the steering wheel. It's about 13 inches between the top of the top seat rail and the bottom of the steering wheel. The tabs on the seat that the pin slides thru are 9.25 inches apart.

I've been doing a lot of searching and looking at pictures previously posted on the site (for the standard X seat, not the special edition) specifically these...

seat photos

and these...

more seat photos

Is the suspension the same for the standard X and the special edition X? The pictures look like the standard X suspension has springs but no damper/shock absorber. I guess that helps, but it seems like you would bounce around a lot. I also don't see any weight adjustment knob.

From the pictures I've seen, assuming that the special edition suspension is similar to the standard X, it looks like putting one on a 4110 will be different than putting one on a 2210.

Thanks,
Ira

Hi Ira,

Yes there does apear to be minor differences. But Please listen to what I'm trying to say . It would be very easy to slide out the long tilt pin.Remove your old seat. Buy an Special edition X seat , Which has a true suspension Please read that again it has a real suspension and weight adjust and is no were close to the standard X seat!!!!! . Now purchase the 2 brackets only that mount to the bottom of the X special edition seat and the 4 screws that mount them to the seat. The SE seat brackets have a 5 / 16 hole for the long piviot pin. The 4110 might be like the 2210 were it uses the 3/8 pin . If that is the case you need to drill the 2 holes out to 3/8 so the long pivot pin will pass thru. The SE seat also comes with its own seat switch so you have a choice to use your old setup or use the one in the seat. I choose the one in the seat because its closer to my bottom if something goes wrong. Now slide the pivot pin thru the SE seat and then thru your existing mount. You may need a few spacers to keep the seat from moving left to right. Now you are done!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

I hope this helps /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
