Synthetic Oil in Tractors and Trucks

Times change, oils change, engineering changes, technoligy changes; but owners do not want to change. I am amazed that people say; " I have always done it this way for x years and never have had a problem. Someday, they will have a problem and dealer will say " you should have done it this way" and you will say, " but I always did it this way". SORRY. You used to pay with cash for everything; today, checks, debit and credit cards are used. CHANGE, folks. Remember that changing oil every 3000 miles is becoming extinct. It is wasteful and costs money. FOLLOW OWNERS MANUAL.

Actually on my Duramax . The onstar system interogates my trucks computer and then sends me an email telling me it is time to change the oil. My company did a study and they found that actually it is cheaper for them to take debit cards and pay the fees than it is to take cash. When you add up the time it takes to count each individual clerks cash, then have a supervisor total and recount the cash, then take it to the bank you have more money tied up in employee time than you do with debit card fees

For me its an easy choice on synthetics as I have been using them in all my equipment, trucks, Harleys long before it was in vogue to go synthetic. I just believe in the product and do not mind paying for it. It is actually funny that Harley use to say Synthetic oils were not recomended and they would hint that it could void your warranty......that is until they started selling a synthetic Harley oil....then all was good.

My main problem is I truly never get all the hours/miles I could get because sometimes on just a whim I change the oil in everything I own. Just yesterday did my Dodge diesel 3500 4x4, front and rear diff, engine, manual gear box, transfer case, and did it all with Royal Purple. The old engine oil only had 7500, and everything else only has 20k on it it.

I remember them days too..... synthetic oil would cause bearing skate and all kinds of other failures. would even cause your wife too leave you and your expulsion from church. now they sell synthetic that is supposed to be good for all three holes at 9 bucks a pop.

just goes to show if you can't beat em, join em.

BTW, last time I went in the dealer they wanted 5 bucks a quart for thier genuine HD oil. gotta be kidding.

Why synthetic oil is Bad!

It will not only leak out of your engine faster than you can put it in, but it will also cause your oil filter to clog and implode, dumping debris and dirt into your lubrication system.

It also will make every part of your tractor permanently slippery because of its linear molecular chain dispersion action.

Then it will leak onto your PTO causing it to retract automatically, dropping your Impliments on the ground! But that's not all...

Synthetic oil will round off your gears and spin your bearings.

It will also splatter onto your seat causing your girlfriend to fall off in the apex of a turn and she'll never drive your tractor again.

Synthetic oil coats your sight window and your timing window with a whitish pro-emulsification additive that is both non-removable and highly corrosive.

Synthetic oil will completely leak onto the ground overnight and your dog will drink it and die.

Synthetic oil will wear out your tires and make your battery leak.

It will give you the desperate need to urinate after you put your coveralls on and then jam your zippers shut.

It will contaminate your diesel fuel causing your tractor to stall on railroad tracks and accelerate uncontrollably near police cars.

It will make it rain during rallies and on weekends.

It will lubricate four timing belts causing them to jump teeth and break your valves to bits.

Synthetic oil chemically weakens desmodromic valves and causes the clearances to change every six hours of operation.

Then it melts the black soles of your work boots night before you walk across your new carpeting.

While riding past groups of attractive women it will cause your nicker knob to slip off at the same time so you smash your steering wheel with the bridge of your nose.

It also causes your frame to crack, your studs to break, and your rotors to warp, and then it voids your warranty by changing your hour meterr reading to 55,555.

It also dries out your wetclutch and wets your dryclutch.

It makes your clutch slave cylinder seal fail in the farhtest field on the hottest day of the year while putting an angry wasp in your cab for good measure.

Synthetic oil hides your 13mm socket and puts superglue on your earplugs.

Synthetic oil will scratch your glasses and make your gloves shrink two sizes night before harvest.

Synthetic oil stole your neutral and sold it to the Chinese for $1.25.

Synthetic oil will make you grow a tail.

Synthetic oil will write long crazy e-mails to your Internet friends and then sign your name at the bottom.

I was with GM in Europe for a number of years....pretty much everything over there comes out of the factory with synthetic oil in it and 10K is the typical number of miles between oil changes. I am always amused when the guys at Jiffy Lube tell people that they need to change at 3K. That's probably what's causing the oil shortage.....

well with the stuff they put in your car at jiffy lube, I would change it every 3K miles. :(

I use synthetic on both of my vehicles now just because I didn't like changing it every 4 months. And when I do change it the oil always flows like it did when I put it in.

Classic Dino vs sythnetic debate:

can anybody list some of the types of Synthetic oil they use for diesel motors (truck & tractor) for winter and summer use? and if possible list those that are CJ4 compliant (for 2007 models)

I think this info is more helpful than the tireless debates

I am about ready to switch to Texas Refinery Corp, synthetic blend 15-40w motor oil. I am going to use their Universal Torque Fluid for my hydraulics. The oil is here but I won't begin to use it until this spring. I was impressed with Diesel Powers knowledge of motor oil so I purchased the oil from him. I have a friend who owns an oil business in Corpus Christi Tx and I called him before I made the purchase. He said it's a company that makes a superior product and had been in business since the 1920's. They also do a free oil analysis if you use their products so I should have a pretty good idea when it's time to change the oil.
