T&T - Which T more useful?

( Jeff, when your cutting dirt or have a PHD, the tilt cylinder is nothing short of delightful. The top link however should be just as much a part of the tractor as all five wheels, it's that important to me. )

What function does the tilt do on a post hole digger? Not disagreeing, just not seeing what use there is for tilt?

While stumblin' around in a tractor graveyard I came across a pile of links. one was in decent shape and evidently came off a Ford 8N. At least my Dad's had one just like it. It had a rod, threaded on both ends with a sleeve on the bottom, and a crank and gear on the top. Rotating the crank handle shortens or lengthens the rod. This isn't an adequate description. I'll try and remember to take a pic. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The crank adjustable link arm you are talking about was pretty much standard on the N series Fords. It was really nice to be able to reach back from the seat and adjust the tilt of the rear blade. My DX29 and several other new tractors have them, and you can find them as aftermarket items, too. Unfortunately, the seating position on the DX is so high I have to get off the tractor to turn the crank. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Still, it's way better than the turnbuckle, wrench, or ratchet lever adjustment found on a lot of CUTs.

I do have an HTL. It is on most of the time. It only comes off if I need the 3rd SCV for something else (grapple e.g.).

To the others that detailed the worm gear side link: Thanks - I'll start surfing for details on where to buy one.

Now I need some information. I have one set of hydraulics on the rear of my machine and would like to have T&T. Is there a economical way to do this. The worm gear for tilt could be it but hydraulics are my friend!! Second question is what tilt cylinder should I buy? And lastly do I need a check valve on it?
