Taking delivery of my BX25D today - Help requested

Hi there,
This is my first "real" tractor purchase. It's being dropped off after work today. The sales guy said he didn't think the process would take very long at all (20-30 mins start to finish). From what I've read on these forums it seems like folks usually take an hour or two with the delivery folks to go through the machine and it's an opportunity to learn.

So, since the sales folks aren't being thorough I figured I would. I wanted to post here to get suggestions on topics to cover or questions to get answered so that I "get my money's worth," so to speak.

Things I was thinking of:

- Check all fluids and look for any leaks.
- Since I'm a newbie, I'm going to list them to see if I'm missing any:
- Coolant, engine oil, hydrostat and hydraulic oil, front axle level
- Check running light function and dash functions
- Check both PTO function
- Check backhoe function and FEL function
- Check parking brake
- Check 2wd and 4wd
- Get all the owners documents
- Just the manual?
- Confirm serial number (or numbers? FEL, backhoe, etc.)

Make sure you got all the accessories you might have added such as three point hitch arms. I also recommend having them remove and reinstall both the loader and the back hoe.

Have a good look at the fit and finish.Some people have had problems with paint,even on new tractors.I have bought four new tractors and they have all had minor paint touch ups.

Well here she is! Remember this was a demo unit, so I expected some superficial issues. Most of the dirt you see is from a test drive I took it on last Saturday. Doesn't mean the guys couldn't have given it a good wash before delivery, but oh well....

Congratulations on the new tractor.That little bit of dirt is pretty minor for a tractor,enjoy.

You need to also wax it at least 6 times a year now that it is yours and you want to keep it so clean.:cool2: Lookin good.:thumbsup:

Open up that 3PT box yet? There's a mind boggeling number of parts in there but it goes together pretty easy.

Looks Great, It will never look that nice again, looks like you have a nice yard to play with it in and a nice garage to keep it in. Even looks like she'll have its own bay.
Like JOHNTHOMAS says, Wax it, you spent 20K Wax it, use it, and keep it nice maybe be trading it in for the new BX30 in a few years.

If it has a differential lock you may want to check this also.

Congratulations on the new tractor. I would check the fluid level on the front axle. Hopefully, yours is fine; there was an issue with the BX24 where the axles weren't completely filled. Mine was one of them. You will enjoy that tractor.

Congrats on the new tractor. Had my New Tractor Day last month. Best day ever.

I would take some time and check all the grease points. My dealer did a pretty good job, but something could easily get missed.

Also take some time and read the manuals and save them to reread.

I spent a lot of time first time switching all the implements. Nothing was greased and it was hard to get some pins out. Practice and grease are big helps.

No need to post replies anymore Biff got his new tractor and never posted again. Guess thats the way it's suppose to be. He's off digging holes and learning how to back grade.

WaxMan totally had me pegged! That's exactly what I was doing. Just went in with the folks on 46 acres! Next task is to get a driveway (of sorts) back to the homesite.

So that's what I've been up to. More pics later, but we moved around a lot of dirt and pulled out some stumps and yes back-graded a bit to smooth things out! The float feature on the loader is great!

Oh and the backhoe was squealing a bit after some use this weekend, so I got the ol' grease gun out and found a pin that needed 4 good pumps to get full. Tsk tsk on the dealer for missing that one.

Underneath the deck is some zirks for the Hydro pedal, and others, not sure on your machine, but look close, and find them all.

I have had mine for a month now and I am amazed at the power in such a small package. I have meet some roots that the chain saw could not take care of. So far 1 small dent in the hood and I lost the caution bracket that attaches to the backhoe.

Was at Barlows Friday and he has 2 new BX25D's sitting in front and I had to walk between them to get in the door. My entry was delayed while I looked at them. Miss my BX25. My most missed Kubota.

Get behind me, Satan!:laughing: Getting better adjusted to the B2620 FEL BH so I'll probably stay with what I have, for now.
I keep seeing posts that bigger are/is better but I guess I'm the contrarian on that opinion. I'm not disputing that bigger CAN'T be better but just saying bigger isn't ALWAYS better. I went from a B3200 one time to a L3240 which for me was bad even though the L3240 was/is a Grand machine.
The BX25 is a fine all around machine for a good price. Lots of versatility but it is a Sub Compact Tractor with the limitations of a Sub Compact tractor but for me the best all around Sub Compact tractor available.
I've never owned any brand but Kubotas due to my research, personal experience and financial status as well as living in the same town as Barlows.:cool2:
