Taurus "The Judge" or??

Federal claims 1200 fps from the Judge with the .410 Personal Defense buckshot, I'd say that is more than adequate velocity from a short barrel.

I'm not sure what the advantage of a .410 slug would be since the Judge will shoot regular old 45LC ammo with any type of bullet you'd want. Most slugs for .410 are 1/4 ounce, or 110 grain. I load my 45LC with 250 grain lead bullets, much heavier than a slug.

Skyco, I don't know how hard it is to get .45 LC where you are but I haven't seen a box for sale in many months. Just considering the .410 slugs as an alternative.

Have you tried the Federal's?

I haven't looked for any commercial 45LC ammo. I bought one box of 45LC with my Judge and now I reload. I do remember the box of 45LC was outrageous, something around $30+ for a box of 50, a good reason to reload! Of course primers/powder/bullets/brass are hard to find too....luckily I stocked up before the crunch.

I bought the Federals but haven't fired any yet, if I get out to the local range this weekend or up to my land in NC I'll sure give them a try.

Well I guess it is safe to say "The Judge" did not interest me too long. It got traded for a near new Ruger Ranch Rifle today. The guy just had to have it.;)

Yeow! Great trade!! It looks like you found the best thing about the Judge; people are still going for the watermelon ads and will pay dearly for a pistol that kills produce. :)

Yep.. around here stores can't keep the judge on the shelf. At shows.. new in box and mint-used are selling for higher than standard retail...

Yesterday was the first show I had been to since April. A lot of lookers and very few buyers. Prices an AR's are back to "normal" retail and ammo/components were once again pretty much plentiful in most calibers and prices back into the "normal" range. Judges were available at several dealers, but I had the only 6" barreled one in the house and I met someone who really wanted it:D. The Federal handgun .410 loads were also available there.

I guess Soundguy and Dargo are finally "stocked up" enough to let the rest of us get some!:D

I have a judge SS 3" bbl with a nice holster.

I only use it as a tractor gun, that's about all its good for so far.

Actually I would like to sell it, ftf or FFL only.

After owning and shooting one, I will definitely agree that it would make one great tractor gun or snake gun or scorpion gun etc. The idea of it being some super self defense firearm is a complete farce and simply a marketing scheme; a good one at that based on demand. I personally like Taurus firearms in general. I'm just saying that the Judge is no better than any .45LC pistol, and you can buy them for far less.

I too have noticed that AR and auto loading rifles with detachable magazines in general have come down in price and are in ample supply. I personally like the Ruger SR556 rifle but I'm just waiting and watching while prices fall. I've sold enough firearms from my collection in the last 6 months to buy me a nice tractor or two. It looks like the prime selling time is pretty well over and it's time to start deal hunting again. I'm sure some dealers waaaay over-stocked on so called assault rifles and will begin feeling the pinch of their inventory cost pretty soon. Ammo still seems rather high and in relatively short supply though.
