I don't know if this has been asked before or not - does your TC55 have a locking front differential? I notice that, when my front diff is locked, steering can be a bear. At one point I thought something was wrong, but then it dawned on me that the diff was locked and I was trying to steer when not moving very fast - a sure recipe for difficult steering.
My experience with New Holland Corp goes to prove a point, if you have a problem you need to be an hyper jerk and pound them relentlessly as taking the passive, easy going route has just gone nowhere (a sad statement itself).

This disturbs me a bit, I have always been looking at the Kubota 5030 hstc to replace the International 584 4wd we use. Recently a TN75D showed up for a good price and was considering it. I have been reading about a lot of small design flaws/manufacturing flaws that seem to be showing up in the NH's.
Our international has a problem in that the diff/hydraulic fluids have to be way over filled or the pump sucks air in uneven terrain. This is a problem working in the woods! The steering seizes and won't work until you get level again, a pain when you are stuck in a rut or whatnot.

I just took posession of a new TC55DA with 18LA and loaded wheels. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Read this thread and moved a pile of dirt and had no problems there. Then I put a big rock into the bucked (needed 4WD as the rear tires strated spinning) and shure enough I lost the power steering. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif What a bugger to turn! I lowered the loader with the rock still in it, jigged it around and I had the power steering back. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I guess I have to play around a little more and see what happens.

Your comments are similar to my experiences. I now have over 45 hours of FEL use on my tractor. I have moved over 6000 board feet of lumber. From the fall location of 12' long 36" diameter logs to stacks of boards being loaded onto my trailer.
Only once in a while do I start to loose steering. But with a jiggle it usually comes back. I have picked the rearend of the tractor off the ground with so much weight and with the rearend properly weighted I have hit logs that I can only move a few inches off the ground by just curkling the bucket.
I dont know the problem, but whatever it is , the problem is hidden in the tc55 tractors it just is magnified in our friend noeclark. If I had to guess I would say the hydrualic pump is straining to keep up the presure in the front end and there is a stuuck vavle. The jiggle must help lossen it... I have no real understanding of these tractors work though. One really gets lazy in the mechanicing world when ones brother has been a professional mechanic for 30 yrs and can replace your starter in 7 minutes with hand tools and it took me 3 hours with air tools.... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have now 12hrs on my TC55DA EHSS with 18LA and loaded tires. The only way I can lose the power steering for a few seconds is if I have something that heavy in the bucket (around here in N.S. there are tons of rocks), that it almost picks up the rear end. It always came back after going a little forward or reverse. It seems to be that one is worse than the other. The other question is: Is your tractor level when that happens or are you on a slope? For me it only happened while being level.
Like you said before on our tractors it only happens once in a little while and that's it. I would be thinking the same thingyou said. Could it be something like not enough hydraulic oil in the power steering or air in the lines?
On a differnt note: Does your main Haudraulic pump make a noise when cold (0 C) until the tractor warmed up?
I ran out of work to do with the tractor in the moment, but later I will cut some more logs and then I will see what happens. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Zero C? You wont find me outside in that temp. much less on a tractor........
I have noticed around 45 degrees F. that there is a little groaning for about 1 minute under my right foot till the tractor warms up.
I am primarily on level ground 99.9% of the time. There are only two inclines on my property.
BTW, congrats on the tc55 purchase, hope you enjoy it as much as I have....
