No pics yet, but I went to a local NH dealer on Thursday. They looked up the service bulletin, and as I understand the bulletin, the clutch stopper is there to keep the gearbox on a 914 mid mount pto mower from hitting the clutch pedal. I was told there would be no harm in leaving the stopper off. Then the guy said he'd request clarification from NH. Here's the fax from NH:
Concern Description:
PTO will not stop with clutch pushed in with clutch stop bracket installed.
Symptom:
PTO will not stop turning when disengaged
Cause:
Clutch pedal stop set incorrectly
Resolution:
Adjust the clutch pedal stop
If, after adjustment, the PTO still fails to disengage, adjust the clutch pedal stops. The stop pin is located under the operator's platform just under the clutch pedal. The clutch pedal passes between two plates with two holes in them, one square hole and one round hole. A square pin is located in the square hole and is the pedal stop position for a single stage clutch. This position is also used on production double stage clutch tractors. However, if it is found that the PTO will not stop on a double stage clutch tractor where the clutch has been adjusted properly, move the square pin to the round hole.

I'll investigate that suggestion on Tuesday and update.
