TC55DA vibration on paved road. what is it?

Hi Roto! Just a little more on the sympathetic vibration. My old NH 1920 did not do this. I can only guess that as other members have said that it could be the wheels and tires are a little out of balance, maybe the sheet metal is a little thinner than in the past and/or other parts of the tractor combine at higher speed to start the vibration and then it starts! Just back off the RPM a little and it helps for me. I think you could eliminate or minimise it if you spent a lot of time and $$ to mess with the different parts of the tractor but it really isn't a problem, just a minor thing to me since I rarely go very far or fast on the road. Good luck! Ken

well i tried different speeds and RPM and still has that same rythmic vibration 4 seconds on and 3 seconds off and i would have to go like 10 mph or less to not feel it. I guess i will live with it but it doesnt seem normal or healthy.

Does the frequency change with road speed, or is it constant? By frequency, I don't mean the 3-4 second cycle, but the "speed" of the vibration.

Mine acts the same .It gets better the more i drive it i thought it was the ribs on the tires . It is worse if i let the tractor set for a week or two the tires warm up as others have mentioned and it gets better on mine.

well it was a 40 minute drive on the tractor and it did it all the way over and im convinced it would after 500 miles. Not the tires in my case. I find it hard to believe.

Hard to say about the speed of the vibration changing with road speed. I would say only that it is less vibration gradually as i go slower the vibrating is less so maybe at 3 mph i wouldnt notice it but as i go faster i notice it and more intense vibration as i go faster to the point where at 18mph the steering wheel really vibrates bad enough so i feel uncomfortable with it as i dont think it should do that. I still think it has to do with 4wd gears turning and meshing every so often as they are out of sync.

I wish I was there to hear it. I love Maine, particularly at this time of year. Sorry I couldn't help.

You may want to check to make sure the 4wd is disengaged.

you mean feel it not hear it as theres not much sound. not in 4wd for sure i triple checked. anyway, i trucked it back on my trailer and will try to avoid the long paved runs. I will try it on dirt sometime to see if the same effect.

been a beautiful month of August here in Maine. sunny and 80 and dry and clear. I did 7500 40# square bales in the last month and have 127 hours on the tc55 mostly in the last month.

Tractors are not designed for on road use or high speeds!

However.. it's certainly ok to run down the road at a speed the tractor can achieve on it's own.. and except for tire wear.. there aren't many more problems associated than that.

Roto,
I think most of us are giving opinions thinking this is a typical minor vibration you are feeling. If that's the case I wouldn't worry about it. But when you say it gets to the point of feeling "uncomfortable", I would call a dealer to have them test drive it some. I haven't taken my DX55 on any road yet, but I wouldn't expect it to feel uncomfortable. Maybe a service or sales person can stop by your place when they are out and test drive it for a better opinion. I'd want them to test one from their lot too, just to compare the feel.
