Tell me about bed liner experience

I bought this Silverado 2500 in 1999,, it is a few months shy of 20 years old.
Within a month of buying it, I purchased a slide in liner,, and this dump trailer,,,

Abusive stuff goes in the trailer,,
normal stuff is hauled in the bed,,
20 years, and the bed still looks perfect.

I got a 2018 Silverado recently,, it came with the spray in liner,,

I told the salesman I was leery of the spray in,, I did not like how the spray in liners fade to a "light" color,,
he said do not worry, they now top coat the spray in with a clear coat type coating, eliminating the fading,,

Time will tell,,,,

I do like how stuff does not slide on the spray in,, compared to the drop in,,,

If I do not like the spray in because of it being slick,, I will get a rubber mat,,,

I have the "Dualliner" in my New Ford and love it nothing slides around and I believe the the mat helps protect the Aluminum body from dents somewhat!!

Drove my 2003 F-150 straight off the lot and to the Line-X dealer in Athens, GA. Still have the truck, liner still looks great. Tossed a lot of stuff in it over the years, including mulch that I've pitchforked out. This was the 2nd truck with Line-X and if I were to every buy another, I'll have it done to that one as well. :2cents:

I have used the hard plastic liner, the bed mat, the DIY liner, and the spray-in liner. By far the spray-in is my favorite.

The plastic liner rubbed some of the paint off and it trapped water, causing rust. Plus stuff slid around alot more than I was comfortable with.

The bed mat was okay, but didn't protect the sides at all.

The DIY roll-on liner didn't adhere well and ended up cracking in some areas, especially corners, trapping water and causing rot.

The spray-in bedliner took tons of abuse but never cracked. The bed was waved and the liner just moved along with the bed. There was a chip in the liner, but no rust. There must be some special coating they put down first to get great adhesion.

If you don't do the spray-in, the Dualiner seems to be the next best thing. I haven't tried the dualiner, but it looks nice.

I bought a new truck and need to add a bed liner. My last truck had factory (dealer) plastic slide in liner. I both loved and hated that stuff slid in it. Great for sliding heavy stuff around or just shoving stuff from front to back to unload. But then a real pain when I didn't want stuff moving around.

I do not want to do DIY spray/paint on.

I got nearly identical quotes on Rhino and Line-X. Rhino says UV protection but it looks like Line-X requires an upgrade for UV.

I also looked at Truck Bedliners for Ford, GMC, Chevy & Dodge | DualLiner I don't know what to think of that, but somehow don't think its as great as they want to make out.

Tell me what you've had what you like and don't like.

Had a rubber floor mat in several trucks - loved it. Easy to remove for cleaning, protected teh floor (looked like new ater 15 years).
Current truck bought used came with a rhino liner - 108k 13 year old truck and liner was in great shape.
HOWever, the bed wasn't. Granted, a ford bed and they're known for rust and rot.

Lots of jeep folks swear by rhino liner (or line x). I Have line x on several speakers (I dj and it's a coating to protect the subs) and it's durable as all get out.

I talked to a guy today and he had a bed rug type liner but the material looked more like a spray in liner. It was pretty nice, felt a lot like bed liner but was a little softer and more padded. It covered everything to, up the sides and the tailgate.

The same company that makes the BedRug liners makes one like that but it only covers the floor and tailgate not up the sides:
BedTred Impact Bed Mat | Bed Liners & Mats - BedRug | Bedrug

They used to make a version that goes up the sides too but I don't see it on their website anymore. Here it is for sale somewhere else:

That last link is the one I was talking about. He had it in a new F150. It was pretty nice, about the same texture as a spray in but would be much easier on your knees if you were crawling around on it.
