Saw this truck Sunday at the beach.... entire thing is coated in bed liner. Entire thing, except the inside of the tailgate.

Looked kinda neat, really.

I had a hard plastic liner in my truck. It is great for gravel, dirt, firewood, etc... in that you can slide it all right out and sweep it out or hose it out very easily. But like others have mentioned, things you don't want to slide around do. So tiedown straps are a must for just about everything.

My favorite is a slide in plastic with a rubber mat, also had trucks with just a rubber mat. If you need a slick surface just pull the mat out, also makes cleaning easy.

My last 2 trucks had Rhino liners, they are ok but I much prefer the line-x in my dad's truck. I bought used and the Rhino liners were already applied, based on my experience I would do line-x for a spray in if I had a choice.

That sounds about like the best solution to me over a flatbed. I admit to only having one slide in bed liner over the years. When I pulled it out to repaint the truck there were rub marks almost to bare metal from vibration. That and as said, the sliding around issue.

If you truly use a truck as a truck, once you have a flatbed you likely will not ever want a stock bed again.

Agreed. Although I’d prefer a flatbed dump. My dump truck isn’t a beauty queen, but it’s the most useful truck I’ve ever had.IMG_0060.JPG Unloading this load of soggy particle board in the rain by hand would have really sucked.IMG_0132.JPG Dumping in this field stone would have destroyed a regular truck.IMG_4659.JPG And not having to unload anything by hand saves me a bunch of work.IMG_4657.JPGIMG_4658.JPGIMG_4660.JPG

 makes hooking up my gooseneck trailer so much easier. Mine is aluminum and I had it sprayed to keep things from sliding too much.

I've had two pickups with Rhino spray in bed liners. Worked great - no problem. Saw a Kenworth - entirely covered with spray in bed liner. Weird looking but the owner said he is under contract to deliver goods to the North Slope. Means many trips per year over the Dalton Highway - I can understand the situation now.

Took out a factory liner on a 03 Ram, bought truck new in 03 and had a line-x spray done. Cousin still driving the truck and the liner still keeping the bed in good shape, 2018.The liner had started removing paint from expansion and contraction that was the reason for the change within the first year of ownership. My new truck got a line-x liner no factory liner this time. lol

I have my second truck with a BedRug liner. It keeps things from sliding around. Easy to keep clean with a vacuum or hose. Would not be good for sand and dirt. I have a dump trailer for that. Good cushion and traction for a dog and for camping in the back under a cap. Obviously a special purpose liner but I liked it enough to get another one when I bought a new truck.

I have several pu's, and the one with a flat bed (I built) with dump IS the most useful…

Another has a slide in liner from the factory, I'm betting when I pull it out it's going to need some "attention" from paint loss. I'll probably either spray a liner in it myself, or have it done.

A third one has had nothing but a sheet of thick CDX ply in it and it looks like it! lol

I bought a new truck the other day, I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do about that one, but I'm leaning on a spray in liner.

I'm leaning towards another slide in. Anything I don't strap is, dirt, gravel, etc is easy to get out and anything else gets strapped. Plus the sliding for moving stuff forward or back when I want to.

The other factor is the installation, it's a real pain to leave the truck somewhere for a day to get it done.
