Terrified of tipping - how about an inclinometer?

Let us know if you roll it onto its side. And what the degree-mometer indicated when that happened. Will be good info to have on TBN.

Do you always wear your seatbelt? and have the ROPS up?

@beenthere: Have never rolled a tractor, and still have all appendages. I'll let you know if I ever flop it over. I'm not afraid of mockery. Bring it on.

ROPS is up. Seatbelt? Sometimes.

I had no idea that this topic would become such a hotly debated issue. I put one of these inclinometers on the 4600 and another one on the 2210. I have found that my limit of comfort is at 15 degrees, and seeing the reading is very helpful to me, because sometimes I get nervous even at 10 degrees when the rear tire goes over a rock, and so this helps to calm things down for me.
This is a great post and great photo of the real McCoy in action! I love it.

I was wondering though... is there anything you can do to that sour apple green color? I've got some left over Kubota Orange I would be willing to part with !!! :)

He he he

Great post!

OMG! My wife is asking me what I'm laughing so freaking hard about!!!

LOL :)

If there is anyone out there that didn't get a chuckle out of the image that just went through your mind after reading that, well lets just say you need some time off!!!

Well add me to the mockery stable. New owner of a Kioti CK3510 with Rimguard and slope land here in southern NH. There is that 'butt' tilt meter and i also bought an inclinometer. Had a service call on a washer and the tech used to be a diesel mechanic at a local mahindra dealership. Asked him to look at the slope and he stated I could have double slope and tractor would be fine. Me, be sipping scotch while someone else drives the tractor. Combination of all of the above, experience, comfort, hardware and degree of mental capacity to push the envelope.

I had one in a 4x4 and yes they do work as I found out the hard way when we ended up wheels pointing to the sky after a speeding drunk driver ran a red light and T boned me at a intersection, whilst I was hanging upside down held in by the seat bets I did notice the inclanometer was reading correctly.
But as a more useful adition I was given one that has a GPS spedo and a compass as well as a three access inclanometer as well as an altimiter digital compass coordinates read out and temprature gauge, that I fitted to my CAT Backhoe , I found the altimiter a great bonus knowing the height of a hill and the distance from top to botom and it's fairly accurate comparing it to a theolodolight and range finder one would normally use, the speedo not so good as it only starts reading speed at 5kph but is accurate after that great for on road travelling as the back hoe dose not have a speedometer or odeometer, It plugs in to a USB port that comes with the 20w solar pannel I mounted on the roof of the cab to keep the battery charged, it was bought on E-BAY for around $30 Au to mount on an old 4x4 quad bike atv type of thing that is now dead.
I wouldn't ever have thought about fitting one of these things, as a back hoe owner and operator you soon learn the limits of the machine without an inclanometer, use your own pucker gauge, and check where the inclanometer is, for the price and extra features far more usefull on any tractor I might get one for my ride on mower it would be interesting to see how much milage it covers doing the mowing.

What's an "inclan"?
I'm just going to pretend this thread doesn't exist.

Usually the tire on the high side spins when you get close to tipping, it loses traction. I spend lots of time on tractors. I moved slats in a chicken house today. They like me on the tractor because they like going home with their fingers.

Heres a very steep incline I cut (retention basin) and it’s pretty scary, but I found the tractor will slide slightly before it tips.
Its funny how pictures never quite show how steep it is.

The township mows highway ditches with large compact Kubotas and Deeres. All have rimguard in the wheels. Those guys are talented in knowing what to expect on steep slopes. I've mowed the front ditch a few times. It's as bad or worse than your slope. With the price of diesel now, I'm letting them mow it and keeping myself safer.
