Test drove new 3.5l TT Ford

What I was looking for was the axle ratio info. I know that Chevy has a high milage 5.3 package just for the EPA tests but I wasn't aware that Ford did the same with the echoboost

Chevy will combine the 5.3 with the 6 speed and a 3.08
vs
Ford will combine the 3.5tt with the 6 speed and 3.15.

Those are also both 2WD standard cab trucks.

To get those drivetrain combinations costs$. Chevy charges $2K for the 6 speed, Ford $2k for the 3.5tt. For a one to two mpg difference, that could take you several years to recoupt the initial cost.

Ford $2k for the 3.5tt.
Ford charges $4650 for the 3.5TT motor.

That depends on what body style you choose. If you go with the XLT super cab its only $1750 for the Eccoboost enginge

He was not talking about XLT Super Cab's, see quote below.

It's only $2K up here. And the base MSRP is $2500 cheaper as well. That's got to be a first for the Canadian market.

It's $4,650 because you are forced into a different body style and feature package. Click on the little yellow exclamation point for the info.

:D
The 3.5TT doesn't cost $4650. That's just one step of the build program showing you what it will cost for all the options when you upgrade to that engine in that case. If you continue on with that engine upgrade you find out you get:

8' bed instead of 6 1/2'.
3.73 Limited Slip instead of 3.55 non LS
Payload capacity of 3060 rather than 1920.
Towing limit jumps to 11,300 instead of 6100 with the little 3.7v6.

I'm sure it's confusing to some if they are used to another brand, since Ford offers so many more models, packages, and options. ;)

Ok, my mistake :)

I had actually just ran through the Ford build calculator moments before I read this thread as I was curious what a new F-150 would cost as were looking to replace the 2002 F-250. I just can't see spending over $40k for a half ton truck. I did spec it out the way I would want it but the entire reason I am even thinking about a half ton again is because the ecoboost is suppose to get great mileage and power but I don't think I am sold on it yet. And this truck will have a plow on it so I am really thinking another 250 is in the future.

It's not confusing, basically you CAN NOT get the 3.5l TT engine in a base truck without adding $4650 to the base price. I don't care what else is included, the fact is that if you want that engine in a 2WD reg cab truck it will cost $4650 more. You cannot get it as a $2000 option which was stated. Unless your in Canada apparently. ;)
