Ok, my mistake :)

I had actually just ran through the Ford build calculator moments before I read this thread as I was curious what a new F-150 would cost as were looking to replace the 2002 F-250. I just can't see spending over $40k for a half ton truck. I did spec it out the way I would want it but the entire reason I am even thinking about a half ton again is because the ecoboost is suppose to get great mileage and power but I don't think I am sold on it yet. And this truck will have a plow on it so I am really thinking another 250 is in the future.

If you are going to plow get a F-250/F-350 or a Dodge 2500/3500. No comparison to having a solid front axle for that application.

Thats how I felt, the option was that I could put a plow on the 06 F-250 but would rather put it on a new truck and have it for the entire course of the trucks life with us. I currently use my tractors for plowing but on job sites we have no other option then to fight with the snow as people don't like to plow their driveways where we usually end up working. So it won't get used a lot but I agree the 250 would be a better choice then the 150.

F-350 SRW would be a better choice yet.

It's not confusing, basically you CAN NOT get the 3.5l TT engine in a base truck without adding $4650 to the base price. I don't care what else is included, the fact is that if you want that engine in a 2WD reg cab truck it will cost $4650 more. You cannot get it as a $2000 option which was stated. Unless your in Canada apparently. ;)

Wow, even when your wrong you are not wrong!!!! I think I will go by a Dodge now!

What is the difference between the 3.7 V6 that's included on those prices compared to the 3.5 eco boost that seems to do what a V8 does with lousy milage?

Go look at the data again, the echoboost has more power then the v-8 and better milage.

I would like to see a compromise....I think at least one automaker should offer a full size truck that is slightly smaller and lighter than today's giants, like the previous version of the Tundra. Put in a small 4ish liter V8 rated for about 200-250 HP or a 3ish liter V6 with turbos. Heck put a turbo on the V8. Rate it for 6,000 lbs towing, 25 mpg.

6,000 lbs would cover 99% of the half-ton users out there....I would take a bet that a majority of truck users have never even towed 1 trailer with their truck, excluding TBN posters. Look around PL...most don't even have a hitch and are owned by suburbanites to haul light materials in.

Hey my 2011 Silverado Regcab, 8ft bed 4x4 4.8ltr 4spd auto is rated at 25mpg and pulls 6,000 lbs. I think I figured out the problem. The USA needs a bigger Gallon like we have in Canada. Then you all can realize a 20% mpg increase overnight:laughing:

So which part of it was wrong again...?

The 3.5l V6 is a completely different engine with high compression and Twin Turbos to make that power. Also, it looks like it gets better mileage but in the real world it only barely beats a large V8 and once you put a load on both trucks the V8 will shine in the mileage wars. That twin turbo V6 will be sucking down gas like it's cool once those turbos really spool.
