Then you pull the thing out of your pocket that makes repeated loud noises and spits casings. :D
Yep! I am always hoping to get them in close enough and into the open for a shot or two at them. Buzzards would love for me to get a chance to drop them. And maybe I could sleep through the night without them singing so much.

Well. In deep thought as my heart rate settles.

At 60˚ and a perfect evening for a stroll, I take off West because the deer are munching the corn to the South. I see a couple of deer and think that they are missing out on the free corn, then I look a little closer and notice they are not deer they are those big coyotes I saw a week ago.

Just about the time I notice they are coyotes, Whipper, who is at my side, spots them and takes off after them. They are about a hundred yards away. One continues to trot into the woods the other has stopped and is watching Whipper approach him, kind of in disbelief. Whipper gets about 30 yards from the coyote and all the sudden 6 MORE coyotes come running full blast out of the woods toward Whipper, they are all yelping, Whipper put on her brakes, turns around and starts running to me at her, part greyhound, blinding speed.

The coyotes are catching up to Whipper and they are about 70 yards from me heading toward me with their blood curling yelps!!!

I reach into my pocket pulled out my - - - -

cellphone, saying -----deleted---- They don't make an app for this--------

They are 60 yards ----- 50 yards----getting real close to Whipper at 40 yards---- at 30 yards they still are coming full speed-----

I raise my hands and YELL as loud As I can, as I run toward them----

They stop. They turn around and run back into the woods. Good ending right---but NO. Whipper seeing them in retreat regains her confidence, turns around and start chasing after them.

One comes back out of the woods to confront Whipper and Whipper is running toward him and he is walking toward Whipper. I raise my hands again, the coyote notices me and slithers back into the brush. Whipper stops turns her head and looks at me, (I put my hands down quickly) content that she save the day.
The end.
Breathing fast- - - - thinking -----what if that would have not worked?
I really need a Plan B.

I would start by giving those coyotes a stern talking to. If that does not work, a strongly worded letter should suffice.

LOL:laughing:

Yea, I know . . . . . however without a weapon it does invite fast creative thinking . . . . .

Don, coyotes will kill your rabbits, cats, deer, dog, etc....I remember one of my calculus textbooks showing rabbit vs. coyote population derivatives.
Sounds like you might have a problem with them. They will only get braver until you take them out. If they get rabid, you will have more problems than you want to deal with.

Don,
I would skip plan B and go straight to plan Kimber.

Farmgirl, you didn't happen to get your raindance confused with the earthquake dance, did you?;) Did you feel those tremors of the 3.6 earthquake north of Mineral Wells?

Yesterday, being Thanksgiving, I wanted to feel good, but that was not to be. I was weak and iffy all day. Luckily, all our 12 guests for Thanksgiving dinner were very tolerant and helpful. I ate a light meal of all my Thanksgiving favorites, so it wasn't a bust by any measure. We had a great day and I got to hold and love on my great-grandson all afternoon. He is such a sweet baby. He was here from noon to 7 PM and never even whimpered. He didn't care who held him. I have some pictures I'll post later. Today, I slept in and then had a big breakfast/brunch and am feeling great. My "black Friday" is not so bleak after all, and I didn't have to stand in any long lines. I hope you all had a joyful Thanksgiving.

Jim,
My kids and Grand daughter were at my ex MIL's house. She invited me up to their lake house for Turkey dinner. I jumped at the chance, as I wanted to see my Pumpkin Doodle. In the first photo, from the first of the week, she still had a slight fever and congestion. But she is all smiles.

Yesterday produced the last two photos while she was playing. Still all smiles.

hugs, Brandi

It may have been my fault (pun intended). I wore boots to dance in, in place of the spike heels, due to the cold. I might be a little heavier on my feet with those. Sorry! :ashamed:

I'm glad that you are feeling better today. It's no fun feeling ill any time, but with a holiday, it is rougher.

That's a mighty pretty cat there Don,, mighty pretty.. and fat looking too..:laughing:,, I use squirrel in place of cat.. when cats are not available..

Happy Thanksgiving all,,

I wish your holidays are as sweet as mine.. Lou

Lou; If someone gets a shot at a coyote, we might make coyote stew instead of cat chili! You wouldn't happen to have a recipe for it, would you? :licking: ;) :D

Not for stew FG..but I have a nice one for barbeque dog,, I guess we could replace the dog with coyote.. just a lot more rub on the coyote and a little more set to the side and let chill for awhile.. being it,, little more on the tough side.. where most prefer a young tender pooch.. I know I like apple wood with collie and hickory with English setter.. oak with greyhound,, because the slower the burn with the wood and the quickest of the dog needs to equal out,,.
I am thinking,, maybe wrong on this one.. but bodark with coyote.. it a hard wood but so is the coyote.. bodark is not liked by most,, nor is the coyote.. sound like a nice fit.. need a big pit.. so the coyote will fit,, serviced with catsup on the side,, What are y'all thoughts?.:anyone:,,. Lou

Lou, a coyote is to big of a PITA to skin, even using an air compressor!!

I think that might be a good time to pull out the A-1! I can't think of a better reason to reach for it. Or maybe the Tabasco? (Of course, Tabasco goes with almost anything!)

I think I am going to declare it Coyote season here. They began singing, just as I was drifting off to sleep last night, then came back thru an hour later. Next pack was telling the world about it, at 0400, and they too were back tracking an hour later.

Same here FG19, lots of audio but no visual of the 7Pac. That's their new name.

I've never minded coyotes "singing", but if you don't care for it, set-up an outdoor speaker and sound-activated playback of Patsy Cline singing "Crazy". Maybe you can give them coyotes some voice lessons? DO NOT play opera.

Our donkeys keep the coyotes about 1/4 mile from fence lines.

I'm about 1/2 mile from both my neighbors who have donkeys. No wonder the 7Pac prefers hanging out here.

You are in a donkey free zone so you might have to work on that?
