Yes, and Merry Christmas to all of you.

We were discussing the tradition of black eyed peas at New Years......we figured that someone long ago ate some and the fiber did them well to start the new year. :)

What with Sharn Jean being from East Texas, we have East Texas Purple Hull peas...they are actually a bit more yummy than the blackeyes. We usually have to raise them ourselves, even here they are hard to come by. Tradition? I found this...

Love me some purple hull peas too. Beats the heck out of great northern beans. :)

Why We Eat Black-Eyed Peas for the New Year

There is a farm somewhere down here that raises purple hull peas (and other stuff). They flash freeze them and have their own small chest freezers in some of the grocery stores. Cut Yellow squash, cut okra, are some of their other choices. They are delicious.

I've always liked blackeyed peas and of course, the purple hull peas are very good, too. I never forgot my parents talking about living a short time in Baltimore, Maryland when I was a baby. They said they couldn't find blackeyed peas in the grocery store and asked someone who told them the animal feed store would have them. That was the first time I ever heard of them being used to feed to cows. But I see where at least one of the links above mentioned them being using for cattle.

Hope Y'all had a Merry Christmas. I spent Christmas, in Manor, with my Grand daughter and daughter. Got home yesterday and slept 12 hours.
Happy New Year hugs, Brandi

Thanks LostcreekRanch.
Quietly waiting for the cold front. Yeah, right. I am gonna holler and celebrate the cool, I mean cold weather.

I voted yesterday. It was the longest I have ever waited to vote in Montgomery County. Dang, I spent 2 minutes outside, and about 15 minutes inside, waiting to vote.

Now, I am gonna rant. Please explain to me, why my voting place decided to have two lines (with two different entrances) and split the voting machines, 11 on one side of the room and 11 on the other side of the room. Only to have a vacant voting machine on one side of the room, and a person with his voting number ticket waiting for an open machine on the other side of the room. Can anyone explain this to me????????????????????
hugs, Brandi

We have three early voting locations in Colorado County .. Columbus, Weimar, and Eagle Lake.

I went to Weimar City Hall this morning, walked in, showed my voter registration and ID, chose my ballot, voted, and walked out in less than 10 minutes. No lines, no waiting, friendly folks.

I drive by the Colorado County Court House annex, after lunch, and there some lines there.
