Yeah the hay crews are still running pretty hard. When we went to town yesterday there was lots of trailer loads of hay on the move. I guess we've had enough rain. But the heat is now starting to dry us out.

Pastures are still green but the army worms have appeared. They brought lots of reinforcements.

Bird--I'm central south Ohio and on the flat plains type ground with no shade unless you planted it yourself. Certainly not as hot as Texas but the Texans I know have a higher threshold when dealing with heat. When I was in TX the guys I knew were just getting started for the day and I was already dogging it in the heat. Rural Texans are tough.

When I lived in Maine, a blistering hot day was the middle 80's and a sweater wasn't needed until the 40's.

A little cool relief today. The weather guys say low 90's and no rain. Anybody else ready for fall?

We are doing our darnedest to get out of DFW today. We have an Ubuntublox workshop in Santa Fe next weekend so we would like to be there tomorrow. The weather forecast for Santa Fe is highs in the eighties and the lows in the fifties. We won't know how to act. Then we are off to Mogollon Rim for two to three weeks of dry camping, 7,500' elevation tends to be a lot nicer in the summer time than the 600' here at home.

Poured down all around us but we only got somewhere between a hog's breath and not enough to get the topside of a cow wet here. :(

It has been cooler a little more comfortable !!!

Cher stepped out the door Monday night at 9 pm to feed her dog ... One step out and she got bit by a rattle snake ... I didn't see it or find it but she said it was defiantly a rattle snake .. Spent the night and till noon in the hospital ... Dr call the bite a dry bite ... She is swollen up and very sore.

BR- Wow that's terrible. Hope she's on the mend and back at it soon. We wish her luck.

OK, I'm not even going to take the trash out onto the deck in my stocking feet.

Yeow...snake bite. Does this sort of thing happen very often or is this an isolated occurrence?

Attended an educational workshop yesterday, by Texas AgriLife at the Winedale Historical Center near Roundtop

Presentations were given on Weed and Brush Control and Tree Management with focus on weed and brush species identification, types of control methods, sprayer calibration, and diagnosing tree mortality.

The programs are a joint venture of the county extension (AgriLife) agents of Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington Counties and offer a wealth of information for land owners.

You should make time to meet your own county agent and see if these courses are offered in your county.

Since I work nights in a hangar, I can tolerate the heat and humidity. But I am getting older. I found that out early summer finishing the fence for the duck/island pond that had long stretches (and the gate) out in no shade anytime during the day. The work out in the sun had me taking a break around every 30-40 minutes. The last few days with lower humidity (in the shade) was awesome. I didn't feel the humidity, but my neighbor that is a day worker, said it was humid. I told him he needed to come out to the hangar at night.

Anyway, I am finishing the last leg of my 700 something foot of water line. It is all in the shade. Usually, to start my day work on weekends here at home, I come home Friday morning and hit the hay for a 3 hour nap, then go outside till dark. Yesterday, knowing the heat and sun work be working overtime, I got on the tractor at 9am to finish digging the water line trench. Before I knew it, it was 12 noon and nap time. I was feeling good, but my eyes were getting tired with contacts in for over 17 hours. But I quit because the hydraulic fluid was getting hot enough to smell new heat related smells. When the tractor was new, I could smell the paint baking into the metal when the fluid got hot.

I got back out there at 5pm and installed about a 100 feet of 1 inch pipe. It was all in the shade and included pipe up and over the end of a 4 foot culvert. I didn't even feel how wet my clothes were until I came in and took off soaking wet clothes. I was still feeling good. So this dryer heat and working in the shade is very welcome.

The Lord has delivered a new dog in my life. He is a 4 year old Husky/Malumute. He is an indoor/outdoor dog, so the indoor part will be new to me. He is cat tolerate, as he is lives with a cat. It will be slow to get my son't cat, Socks, to warm up to him, if ever. Anyway, here's a photo. Flurry 4 years old 2014.jpgI was checking dogs on Craigslist last weekend and saw Huskys for sale for $1200. So I feel blessed getting this puppy dog for free. I say puppy, as he will be a puppy to me after having Booger over 12 years.

What's up with TBN? I haven't gotten a update email for this thread in over a week. I finally got one last night to find 4 pages to catch up reading? Also, is anyone having problems uploading a reply? Last night I could even log onto TBN.

We just got back home today after driving 2941 miles since Monday morning, 5 nights in 3 different motels, sight seeing with a granddaughter, etc. through parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas. I had no problem getting on the Internet via WIFI at any of the motels, but like you, Brandi, I couldn't get on TBN last night from a motel in Benton, AR. Didn't know if the problem was my computer, TBN, my ISP, or the motel's WIFI.

I also decided that I'm gettin' too old to spend 14 hours a day behind the wheel.
