Pipe wrench it if you have to.. if it is anything like a ford petcock.. it's brass and is a 2$ replacement part if it fails when you persuade it to be removed..

The petcock takes a 9/16" open end wrench. The drain is located on a recessed part of the block so it's hard to get the wrench to fit on the petcock. Seems I always run into these problems. Need to get a longer wrench to get more leverage.

The no flow out of the coolant drain in the block is a puzzler... Unscrew it and see if the block may be packed with sludge.

My exact thoughts. I just recently replaced both the block drain petcock and the lower radiator drain petcock on my 150. When I screwed the block drain open, NOTHING. When I screwed the petcock out of the block. NOTHING. I had to stick a small screwdriver through the threaded hole before I got flow. And this is a cooling system that gets semi-annual flushing and clean coolant every year. The threaded opening where the petcock installs is apparently a dirt catcher.

Read my response to Soundguy. I recently replaced that petcock. Reason why? I destroyed the old one getting it out. It's in such an awkward spot, I couldn't get a line wrench or even a conventional open end wrech on it. I used a 4" pipe wrench and a dead blow hammer :O

Well.. I should have read on. Same answer again. I used a 4" pipe wrench and a dead blow hammer. New petcock solved the problem.

FWJ: Where did you find a 4" pipe wrench? The smallest I have is 9" and is way too large to use on that petcock.

A little on the high side wouldn't you say?

Just saw this ad in my local paper.
MF 135 1000 hours
$38000.oo:eek:

Looks like a factor of 10 typo to me. Hard to believe that any 135 would have only 1000 actual hours on the engine, unless it was owned by the little old lady from Pasadena.

Maybe it should read $3800 and 10,000 hours.

I've had it for ages. It's a Rigid brand. Handy as a shirt pocket and it even fits in one. Seems like I bought it at a plumbing supply house back when I was building my first house. ('69)

I drove to Tennesee 3 summers back to look at a '74 150 diesel that had 335 hours on it. Owner wanted $8000. I was almost tempted to haul it home. Original owner bought it new to take care of a small acreage. Just after buying the tractor, he got hurt at work and sold his ground. He kept the tractor in case he ever moved back to the country. Never did. All the tractor ever did was drive out to the mailbox a couple days a week.
