So I'm beginning to restore my $650 FDR2572 Land Pride mower. Soon it will be Kubota orange, top to bottom. Solid tires. New belt. Blades are sharpened already today. New stickers.... It should look and function like brand new. IMG_20180330_181535473.jpgIMG_20180330_181517051.jpgIMG_20180330_181459381.jpgIMG_20180330_181438003.jpgIMG_20180330_181417709.jpg

I have everything on the bottom scraped off scale and coated heavy with Rust-Oleum Kubota orange. I'll attack the top tomorrow...IMG_20180330_213316522.jpg

Looks good.
I almost attempted to sandblast the tiller today. But beer drinking got in the way. Maybe early next week.

I'm on a 4 week diet, so no carbs for me. I'm down 12 lbs in 3 weeks. I may skip finishing this tomorrow and get back to it Sunday. I have a tree down that I'm itching to get to tomorrow.

Done that diet several times, it works great... but my wife is a wonderful chef and I eat too much. She cooks for 4 and there's only 2 now in the nest. My 3 week diet plan happens a couple three times a year. I enjoy dinner the rest of 10 months. Did I mention pasta? Plotted on a yearly scale I'm holding fairly constant the past decade... although am heavier than I should be. :D

Well, I started on painting the upper side of the Land Pride mower today.

I ordered the newer style solid rubber tires for it, but the center hole is 0.750" in the new wheel bearings, and half inch on the old wheel bearings and axle bolts. So I would need to drill out the wheel yokes and get bolts to match, or convert the wheel centers down to the 0.5".

I need to talk to Kubota tomorrow.IMG_20180401_133649650.jpgIMG_20180401_133638399.jpgIMG_20180330_213316522.jpg

Wouldn’t take anything to drill them out to 3/4 quick.

How did you prep the existing finish for paint?

Pressure washer for any loose rust or stickers, scraper for any loose paint or rust that the pressure washer may miss, acetone wipe, paint brush. The great thing about Rust-Oleum is that it's very forgiving about prep, it's very durable once fully cured and it looks/lasts for years.

Does rust oleum make kunota orange or are you just finding the closest thing? My local rural king sells the majik paint. I get the kubota orange and add a urethane reducer and then hardener. Very durable and perfect match.
