Here some pics of our place. Its a 40 by 60 by 14 metal building that we built about 890 square feet of living area in. Someday we'll build a house, but we are perfectly happy in this building right now.

Sorry for the bombardment, but I just got a digital camera and the new ain't wore off yet. Anyway, here's my satellite dish that I haven't gotten around to mounting permanently yet.

Here's the living quarters from inside the building. On top is our closet, with some stairs leading up there. Still need to paint.

Nice barn you live in./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Local zoning in my area will not allow me to get away with having my home in the barn./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif The city is moving into my area so fast they may change zoning to exclude barns all together./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I got an HP Photosmart 215. Its only a 1.3 MP camera, but it has a USB connection and was cheap - $150.

I live in the middle of nowhere and the only restriction is that I can't raise pigs. Can't rent 'm either /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Nice place, nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. Whats with "middle of nowhere" and can't raise pigs?/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif What are you going to put on the two BBQ's?

Two barbeques? Thought I counted three! Or is that a steam locomotive on the trailer?

Its the middle of nowhere, but I bought an 11 and a 13 acre tract adjacent to one another. The original owner of the subdivided 100 acres or so put a deed restriction that said no pigs. But I have 24 acres the guy next to me has 13, and the another guy has the rest, so it really didn't get divided all that much. Neither one of them have built yet so we're pretty much alone. There are about 6 houses within a mile.

The grill on the porch is a gas grill for quick cookouts. Inside the building by the tractor is the charcoal grill for the best steaks. The rig that appears to be on the trailer is the smoker. Its actually behind the trailer in the picture - it has its own trailer with wheels. We fire that up for SERIOUS bbq - smoke about 3 briskets, some baby back ribs, and sausage. I burn mesquite right out of the brushpile.

Here's my tank out front. It looks bigger than it really is. Its only about 1.5 acres. Stocked in the spring with bluegill, minnows, channel cat and black bass. We have a nice crawdad population too. We've gone swimming quite a bit, but since those meningitis deaths here in Texas recently (from swimming in lakes with warm water) we are pretty much done for the summer. Its about 12 feet deep and is still pretty cold down about 3 feet, but I'm not taking any chances, expecially with my 19 month old granddaughter.

Hey, nice set up you have there. Wish I had thought about that before I built my house./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif My wife proberly wouldn't have gone for that especially since I did'nt have my tractor yet and all the attachments.
Now I'm looking a building a 24 X 24 garage for the tractor and future cars. I have 2 sons 4 and 10 weeks. Just looking ahead.
Take care, Al

Hey Al,

I'd make that garage bigger than 24 x 24 /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Two boys, a tractor, implements.....I think space will be a premium! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Al, I would agree with Kevin on that assessment! Your tractor and implements will wind up setting outside in the cold cruel elements (shudder at the thought). Build a bigger one, plan for the future! FOUR bays (at a minimum), just for the cars (yours, mama's, and the boys), then build your equipment 'shed' around 30X40 feet.

You're living in what I want to live in - I'd like to get it built now and move into it in a few years when I retire - then build the house. I live in Brazoria County now but home is Bastrop County - Are you in an area close to either and would you recommend the builder that put up your "barn"?

Okay, Alan; 'fess up. Is that Cooke, Collin, or Fannin County? They are the only ones that look that green this time of year.
The landscape looks pretty familiar to this old Denton County boy. It's way, way more dry than that in Wise and Montague Counties right now.

Its grayson county, not too far out of Denton County, between Gunter & Tioga. I do recommend the guy that welded up the building (he's out of Howe), but we are quite a ways from either Bastrop or Brazoria counties,
