Real nice, simple and to the point. Nub those top points off before you fall on them tough. Good job.

Re: The \"Gorilla\" with a shovel

( Makes you want to go out and find a piece of 18" pipe about 24" long and cut it at an angle so that you have two identical pieces like that. Then find a piece of 40"X 20" plate and cut it in half so you have two 20" squares. Then weld each piece of pipe to a plate like the picture, grind a nice edge on each and mount a quick attach plate to each. Then keep one for your self and send one to me for "evaluation purposes". /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

Hey MossRoad,

That's an excellent idea! Any ideas on where one would get said piece of pipe?

Sincerely,

Rob /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

( Any idea what the Markham grubbing bucket costs? I can't find any prices listed on their site.

Kent,
I paid $374 (in Sept. 2005) for the Markham Welding Grubbing Bucket I use on my Bobcat Toolcat 5600 Turbo. I bought it directly and highly recommend both the product and the company.

It is 14" across front and 28" across back with 3 large teeth and came with a 3/4 by 6 cutting edge; the welds and quality are top-notch. So is the customer service from Leslie, Allen and Melissa Markham -- they handled shipping details to get very cheapest option, communicated delivery status, etc.

They focus on Bobcat-style quick-attach "skid-steer" attachments, so I don't know if providing Power Trac attachment systems would change cost or availability, but ask...

Re: The \"Gorilla\" with a shovel

Wow. That looks like a great bucket, and would do the job nicely. How much does it weigh? Given the little 425 has a max lift capacity of 800 lbs, I would be a bit concerned that it is too heavy.

Hmm. Since it is a small, family-owned company, I wonder if they would put a PT plate on the back instead of the skid-steer one... Hmm...

Sincerely,

Rob /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Rob / smartguyz,
It weighs either 265 pounds or 282 pounds... maybe OK for your PT 425, eh? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif It works very nicely on my Bobcat Toolcat, in part due to lots of machine weight, rollback force, movement range on lift arm, and curl mechanism angles! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: The \"Gorilla\" with a shovel

Could you tell us roughly what one of those tool cat costs? It might take a little of the green out of the envy I'm feeling. LOL What is the lifting specs on that 56 hp thing. That’s just a fine looking machine.

stray,
Expect to pay at least $30,000 for a new Toolcat itself with 56hp Turbo Kubota engine, cab enclosure doors & HVAC. "Suggested list" is $6-10,000 higher than that, but most dealers discount off list and the manufacturer offers frequent multi-thousand dollar incentives. Then add attachments, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif But for me it's worth what I paid to be happy with a capable machine I'll use a long time! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now that Toolcats have been sold for three years, more used models are starting to become available. Also many of the 900+ Bobcat dealers are selling their older demo and rental units to move to new C-series Toolcat demos and rentals.

Also, an unannounced smaller Toolcat 4600 is expected to launch later this year. (But never count on products not yet delivered! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Toolcats have a 1500-lb. ROC at full lift height of 7 ft., a 3,000-lb. tipping load SAE rating, 2000-lb. cargo box load in dump bed, and 4,000-pound towing capacity. The newer Toolcat models with revised lift arm are designed to lift 2,000+ pound pallets easily on and off 5-ft.-high flat beds.

Four-wheel-steer Bobcat Toolcats and articulated PTs both offer something of value as tight-turning, oscillating, front-mounted, versatile attachment carriers! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: The \"Gorilla\" with a shovel

Thanks for the information, Brian -

Yes, your Toolcat looks awesome! It would certainly replace something like a PowerTrac and a small pickup all at the same time!

I just called the guys with the grubbing bucket. It is still $374. They will also build it without a back plate (i.e. they will sell the bucket alone). It gets a little spendy, though -

bucket = $374
shipping = $170
PT plate = $150
shipping = $50

We're up to nearly $800 dollars, and I would still have to weld it on. I'm thinking perhaps building my own (probably not as robust, but wouldn't cost me $800).

*sigh*

Sincerely,

Rob /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Rob / smartguyz,
So shipping is lot more coast to coast -- my cost from NC to MD was one-third what it would be for you to Oregon. So the Markham Welding option is more viable for those PTers on the East Coast.

Those proprietary PT plates just add to your cost of third-party attachments -- but I guess it encourages attachment sales from Tazewell when offered! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
