The missing key...

Funny, just today I finally remembered to check both my tractors. In both cases BX2200 and B2910) the keys will not come out when in the run position...

Wish I had the same luck when I occasionally buy a lottery ticket... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Junkman, I've had several companies, not tractor related, do something similar; one today, in fact. We have one of the Honeywell air purifiers in the house that we bought last July. It got noisy, had a rattle that I couldn't isolate and figure out how to fix, and then I noticed instead of a smooth flow of air, it was pulsing, so I figured the fan motor was going. In accordance with their instructions, I boxed it up and sent it along with a check for $10 to Memphis, TN. I called once to see if I could get a tracking number when they sent the replacement and was told they didn't have one yet, but would send one. They never did, but this evening at 7 p.m., the UPS man arrived in the rain to deliver the new one. Hey, at least we got what we needed. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

( It baffles me why the dealership wouldn't just e mail back saying that they were ordering the part to be shipped to me directly. )

In my experiences, sometimes the people who order the parts aren't the same people who will tell you that they've ordered the parts. So right now, sitting on someone's desk is a note to call you saying they ordered the part.
Or the part was shipped a lot faster than was originally expected, so they thought they still had time to call you.

My BX22 (purchased 4/03) has developed the falling key issue also. Called my dealer and he is sending me a new switch assembly.

I'm glad I have to turn the switch to off to remove the key from my Bx23.
If the key would fall out with the switch on I could lose my whole set of keys for my cars house buildings pad locks and everything else.

That make me wornder if you guys with the key problem only have the BX key or a whole heavy key ring pulling on it all the time. Back in the 80's ford hard a problem with heavy key rings

=============
I had a guy who worked at the dealer ship where I bought a new 1989 Nissan P.U. tell me this same thing about the heavy rings in the Nissan trucks. I still have the truck in like new shape with only 28,000 miles on it.
After 15 years of using the heavy key ring in it I've never had any problems with the switch.

The key don't fall out with the heavy ring in my BX23 so it shouldn't be falling out of the other tractors especially if it's the only key on the ring.

I can remove the key from my b7200hst with it in the "on" position. I do it all the time as my "outdoor" keys have the truck and the tractor key on it. I often take the keys out of the kubota and use them to start / move the truck.

About the only time the keys are NOT in my pocket or in the truck is when I am starting the kubota or turning off the electrical system. I never leave them in the ignition as they will fall out.

Oh, and you DO know that all kubota's use the same key? That's what the guy who sold me the tractor said. Said "when you loose the key, just head by the dealer and pick up a half dozen. They are all the same".

Chucko,

Have had only the Kubota key in the switch since I got the tractor. Tried different keys but they would not stay in either so something must have happened in the switch assembly itself.

BX23. The key will not come out in the on position.
When the tractor was delivered, the dealer forgot the keys. He gave me the one off of his key ring (it worked), and brought a new set over the next day. I only have the BX key on my ring with a fairly heavy fob.
