Since I posted "The Pour" pics we've had some progress, but nothing particularly photo-worthy. There was a misunderstanding by the foundation contractor and he put in some brick ledges where none were supposed to be. He ended up drilling, pinning, forming and pouring to fill the voids. They've since waterproofed, installed perimeter drainage system and backfilled. Framing is supposed to start tomorrow. Then there will be some rapid-fire photo ops.

I got some tractor time this weekend smoothing ruts from the mixers in the mud /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

We Have Wood!

Here's the latest of our house building project. We had the first of the lumber delivered Monday. Yesterday the framers started and today they finished the rim joists all the way around. We're especially happy, but the framers should be thrilled tomorrow as the power company hooked up the temporary power today (transformer by temp power post in photo). Now they can listen to tunes instead of a generator while they work. Progress should go pretty quickly for the next week or two, I'll keep the photos coming /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: We Have Wood!

RobS,

Things are looking good, except that sky doesn't look so good. I see what you meant about the mud. The Architect had internet trouble and CAD problems today so I don't get my final plans (and he doesn't get his final payment) until Friday.

I hope the builder can still confirm what he needs on Friday from the truss company so we can firm up numbers and our contract this weekend.

Your right, when the framing begins time flies, then they move inside and it seems like an eternity to get things done. Patience is never a virtue I had much use for.

Re: We Have Wood!

Seems like everything going right on time, even the mud starting to dry up.

In the last 2 days we got little over 13" of snow..looks like winter finally got here. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Re: We Have Wood!

That picture didn't turn out very well at all, did it? Looked OK at home last night, must have been late.

I am glad we had some time between getting our final plans from the architect and the actual construction. It allowed us to stew on a couple of things for a while and make some minor mods through the builder. Hope you get your plans soon MDNY.

And Thomas, we're supposed to get some snow today and tonight. Not what you've had, but enough to remind us it is still March /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: We Have Wood!

I'll take Harv's job over here. Does this look better? Where's the Toybox going?

Re: We Have Wood!

Wow, that's a lot better. How do you guys do that stuff? Can you draw in the finished house?

The initial toybox is a three car garage at the back of the house. Future plans ($ dependant) include a maxi-sized mini-barn for lawn type implements and such and a pole barn for our camper and other toys that will likely accumulate over the years. Can't have enough toys /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: We Have Wood!

RobS,

I get the plans tomorrow around Noon, then off to the builder so he can confirm his costs on the truss work to make sure he didn't short himself or cause me a change order. So we are meeting on Saturday to finalize everything else and early Monday/Tuesday I should have a contract with final numbers.

I need to have our lawyer look it over, confirm a few odds and ends I am paying for and off to the bank late next week. A bit behind, but should still see end of April for actual house construction. Builder is great to work with, responsive and doesn't take on too much load at once. Top quality crew and been in the business over 25 years, that helps.
