Nice truck!! I love blue! Definitely worth the wait.

I, too, was floored by how high these 2500's are and how challenging it was to get in them, and I'm not a small guy. I definitely recommend the Raptor Series truck steps. They're an oval tube style that runs all the way back to the rear wheel well so you can step up and reach into the bed from the side. I had mine coated in Rhino Lining to protect them from the MN winters (road salt). They've been great!

And don't forget the BedStep like I posted in the other thread!

I second the motion .

From what I've seen of those toolboxes, you can even transport a small body in one. It's a nice way to keep things dry that you don't want to carry in the cab.

#1 Great idea of utilizing wasted "useable" storage area.

#2 Horrible idea by the salesmen of using Alcohol as example product to transport utilizing this feature and benefit on a vehicle.

#3 Pics work great for idiots like me, explains everything! Pretty neat.

One last dumb question... I assume the silver railing inside the bed is the hinges for the "box feature"? What does the black item do? (highlighted in the pic).

One definition of being old is spending more on a vehicle than your first house.
Nice truck

Beautiful truck! Yeah, based on the distance between the top of the front tire and the bottom of the wheel well your PW sits even higher than my 2500. I remember that first week or so before I got my steps delivered and then Rhino-lined it was quite difficult getting in and out.

One tip if you think you're going to want to get your steps coated... Buy ones that are not chrome. The chrome is really difficult for bedliner installers to prep so that the liner sticks well. I bought mine in black for that reason. Makes it a little harder to find them. With the color scheme of your truck I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want chrome even if you don't coat them.

Sig - I think the example of beer in the RamBox is a great one! Everybody likes a party! However, I wouldn't let folks come up and dig around to grab their own beer because I'd worry about them scratching it! I'm a bit **** about my vehicles...

oosik - I can see now what you mean about the tonneau cover and RamBox issues. They do make some covers that work together though:

Bak Flip: Dodge Crew Cab with RAMBox - Details!

Truxedo also has one called the LoPro that works with RamBox. This isn't a direct URL but you can enter your truck details here for more:

Have fun!

That taco wagon is a sexy beast. Congrats!

It's a double edged sword. I have an older('01) Ram 2500 4x4. Stock but running 285 instead of 265's. I don't want it any higher; it is already tall even with my 5th wheel already having flipped axles.

The step/running boards are a must for my wife.

On the other hand, when I am out hunting etc, they a magnet attraction for large rocks etc. I call the "Rock Attractors" :D

What doesn't help - I was tired, hungry, wet, upset and saw how difficult it was going to be to get into my own vehicle. The 32" tall Wrangler Off-road tires and the off-road suspension system didn't help matters either.

Tomorrow it's going to be some type of running board system - first thing. I let myself down holding on to the grab handle and it still hurt when my foot hit the ground. Even holding on - the final dismount was a one foot freefall to the asphalt parking lot.

That is why I posted the retractable running boards:

And these go 3 inches lower than their regular retractables .

Just got back from the truck accessory store in Spokane. Got a nice set of running boards. Also - THIS store is really up to snuff. Truxedo makes a specific tonneau for use with the RamBox. Soo...... next week I'll go in and both will be installed - free. Hard to believe in this day and age. I dreaded the though of squirreling around in the mud and smuck to instal a set of running boards. I'll be sipping coffee - the techs will be in their nice warm, dry work area installing the running boards and tonneau.

OH - BTW Spent about five minuets last night looking for the dash knob for 2WD-4WD-HI - 4WD-LO. It's not a dash knob. It's a cute little shift lever with leather covered knob coming up out of the floorboard. The transfer case has mechanical shift - Halleluia. I don't have to worry about a vacuum shift system getting wet and freezing up.

By Golly - the engineers that designed this PW understood that some of the old way were truly the best ways.

Sigarms - your post #100. Those black handle thingies are moveable, lockable "cargo tie downs" along that aluminum inner rail. It's part of another Ram innovation. This is called a "Cargo Management System". BY golly I'm gonna take another picture. Hold on a second. The RamBox situation equated to no tie downs or stake holes along the top of the bed sides. This is the solution to that situation.

View attachment 589911View attachment 589912 You get a better idea from these pics. The center divider can be moved to any forward/aft position and locked in place. It would be used to restrict a small load into a small space within the bed of the truck. The center twist handle will unlock an arm on each side of the center divider - the entire unit can be lifted out of the bed and set out on the tailgate - locked into position and it becomes a bed extender.

All in all - - a pretty nifty situation.

Bummer! That sucks. We drove into town last night and I saw that gas here was back down to $1.92. Lowest it has been since very early 2016.

Rob

$1.79 I paid today. 87 octane regular.
