I don't fault dealers for markup. You have to if your going to stay in business. 10% now days does not seem enough to make it cost effective for you. Still, when I purchase something, it has to be within reason for what I'm getting and these just don't add up. IMO the ROPS prices are what people are willing to pay because they just accept that it must cost a lot to make one. If I can't find one at a reasonable price I will just copy the one on my Toro mower and see what it really cost's to make it. Maybe it will prove me wrong If so, I'll be the first to say so. (I did on my loader)

This was the general conversation several years ago, before any certified ROPS were available for Yanmars, and the talk was that if you sold your Yanmar with a home-made ,(uncertified), ROPS, you were setting yourself up to lose a huge lawsuit if it failed.

Don't forget the tarp over the hood to contain the warmth of the twin 500w halogen lamps aimed up at it from the floor!

Or build a little fire under it to warm the oil sump and block!

I suppose I could solve that by taking it off before I sold it. I've had two dealers trying to get me to trade it in on a new tractor. Guess they don't mind it not having one. If I was to ever sell it, that would be the way I would go. (No liability)

Here's what I hacked together last winter.

I'm no fool, that isn't my wife's hair dryer! I went to Goodwill and got a dryer with a slender nose for a couple of $.

This worked great.

You just might have something marketable:thumbsup: I would never have thought of doing it that way but it actually makes sense. If it could be adapted to a 12VDC heating coil and mounted in the intake it would be perfect!!

Here are a couple pics of a TS in action that I took last year when I wanted to see if mine worked or not.

Fact I even had to use it this morning in the shop it got down to 45 in here and my tractor doesn't want to start at that temp. I wont use the block heater until it really gets cold.

Here's the install of the TS I received yesterday. I will get the hose for the tank to the TS and a switch today and see if it works. The temperature is going to be around 30 degrees this weekend so it will be a good test. I also got the high output magnetic pan heater but I want to see if this works without it first. I am not sure how much current the TS pulls so I will go with 10 gauge wire and compatible push button switch.

I think my TS wiring is 12 or 14ga its not as big as you may think it has to be 10 may be overkill it wont hurt at all but whatever you feel comfortable doing do.
