Thermostart vs magnetic oil pan heater

/ Thermostart vs magnetic oil pan heater #101
I've got the oil pan off right now and waiting for the new gasket to come in. When I get it back together, I'm going to pull the line off the bowl on the injector side and run the engine to see if any fuel comes out. I don't know how much is supposed to come from the injectors or how often it does.

I don't know how much either. Next time I start mine I'll take off the fuel cap and look. We could just bypass the TS and look inside the tank and see if it spits.

Just finished installing Thermostart on my 1500 Yanmar for less than $45.00. This includes the Thermostart from Tractor Supply. I had to buy the TS, a switch and hose and a container(rigged) for the fuel. Wired it from the battery with a switch (on & off). Tried it yesterday and had flame in 3 to 5 seconds at every try. Will get some pictures posted soon.

KISS... Perfect example of what the Grumpy Old Men Tought me Yrs. ago in the Printing Buiness and Pressrooms working on the equipment. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID and usually with a few Choice Descriptions. DA :p No offense personaly but still a good role of thumb over 30yrs. later.
I left my TS setup with the Bulb full of fuel overnight. Still not a drip  Now I have the best of both. The bulb holds enough to last all yr. most likely. And since I Don't have to use it in Ga. Rarely I can Just slip it off give it a Squeeze and put it back Empty. Kind of Safer IMO. Total time and cost thanks to the VN not having it hooked up 3.00$ Harbor Freight and 30 min time ;)

I also am a believer in the KISS principle but also believe in doing it once and not having to go back to it again. I have been surfing around about these 2 cylinder diesels and it seems they don't produce a lot of return line fuel, just a few drops depending on engine rpm and load. So, as suggested before, I'm going to fill up the bowl the first time and it should take care of itself after that. (Hopefully)

Even if it doesn't continue to fill itself with the see through reservoir you will know when to refill. I can assure you on my 2002 your would wear yourself out watching for a drip out of the tank overflow line. Yet, it never runs low, mostly because it is seldom used.:)

That's what I'm hoping for. I have a lot of clearing to do in the woods (13 acres of them) this winter since I can see what I'm about to hit easier. Maybe the daily use will let it keep up.

I hope there isn't a good reason why the self filling Res. is alot cheaper than the OEM. and find out it depends on your Fuel pressure. Looks to me Like it doesn't have a cap to fill it by hand so you would be using my setup having to fill it up :p Sounds like Turnerbend basicly did the same thing I did for half the price. For a New setup and 50.00$ I'll be glad to fill it by hand very time I needed to use it for that matter Esp. for my cost 3.00$ :p
Turnerbend Did your Tract.or supply store stock your TS. here in GA.??? Other YM1500 owners might find the Item # to come in handy if you still have it.;)

Well, not exactly. Turkey baster method works fine for the first time. I pulled the line off at the TS and there is fuel starting to fill up the line. Just slowly. I think it will work fine in the long run and I don't have to squeeze anything:p

For What I have in the cost of parts. Which is more like Zilcho O NOTAh!! The 3.00 Elcheapo HF. Tester paid for itself and then some yrs.ago:cool: Having to fill it Once a Winter maybe? I can can live with that. Puttting fuel in it is easy as filling the Tank unless your going through the Full Serv.:p:laughing:

Can't argue with the cost effectiveness of your setup. But, just as I don't buy old style batteries because I don't want to have to keep checking the water level in them I figured why not go the extra cost on this style and I won't have to keep track of it. Since I am going to be running the tractor several days a week this winter, it should come in handy. That is if it keeps the bowl full. (Yet to be seen) This whole setup may prove not to work out the way I had hoped it would.

Besides, of all the things I can think of to squeeze, something on my tractor is not one of them. I'll see your :p and raise you one :p
