Nope Lopezian....I don't mean those. Never seen cans like those. The ones I and most others are talking about are the ones that have nothing but a curved self-venting (kind of) filler neck. Some have a removeable yellow cap. The really bad ones (newer ones) have a spring loaded stopper that is a pure PITA to use.

Where'd you get the cans in the picture?

I'm still using two of Dad's old WWII fuel containers... ain't pretty but they work just fine with a little history to boot.

Please switch to decaf and a political forum if you can't be civil when talking about something as simple as a fuel can. I am of the opinion that politics have no place on TBN.

In the Peoples Republic of California Nanny state, we've been stuck with those darn things for a few years.

What I did find, however, is that the Kerosene cans were not so regulated and I was able to buy a 2.5 gallon Kero can to use to fill my tractor. I have several older 5 gallon Diesel cans I fill at the red dye pump and also the Kero can then use the Kero can to refill the tractor. A lot easier than hoisting the 5 gallon cans. Then I refill the Kero can from the bigger ones.

With a two inch opening for the tractor tank, the non spill jobs are a ready made spill. I've not tried the ones Lopezian has.

They were designed by some liberal that never filled a tank with on.e
This is the level of hostility and Political venom that has no place on TBN.

I bought the new style last year. Gave it to my father the next week. I now use the plastic military fuel cans made by Sceptor. I still have to buy the big nozzle for diesel though. JC

I don't think I was being uncivil, but just to make sure I am civil, I'm sure sorry if I offended you or anyone else. That was not my intent. I still do believe I was being civil.

California IS over regulated to the point of being ridiculous. Case in point, it is illegal to mount a portable GPS to a windshield in two states. Yes, California is one of them and your state, Michigan is the other. State law makers have nothing better to do with their time or else they wouldn't be passing such important legislation as this.

A friend bought one of these when they first came out, didn't like it & passed it along to me. Agreed with his assessment; however, I had a few spare tire valve stems laying around. Took a few minutes, works just fine. Mod is now 2+ years old and holding up well. Merry Christmas.

al3,

That's the best solution I've seen yet!!

I drilled holes in mine and put a piece of duct tape over the hole to stop splashing while I'm driving home from the gas station. The small hole lets in enough air to pour the cans quickly and without spilling.

Thanks,
Eddie

A 1/8 inch hole and a golf tee works well too.

OK, here is a hot tip to prevent spilling.

Put the can on the ground and stand so the spout is away from you. You are at the South end of the can, and the spout is at the North end.

Most people will just naturally put the spout on facing North. What I have found is that if I put the spout on facing West, there is a lot less spillage, sometimes none. I am right handed, lefties put the spout on facing East.

Also, If I do it this way, I can support the weight of the can with my hand on the bottom of it, and spilled gas does not run down onto my hand.

See the attached file for a diagram.

That's exactly the way I fill my tanks, and as you stated, it's much easier than the old style cans. The first few cans was a "learning curve," however!

You have grossly offended me ;) I cannot think for myself and need lawmakers to regulate my every action & thought

Government - Please save us all from any independent thought or responsibility for our actions

Please Tax me into non existence - I no longer am worthy of being middle class :(

Now - we both can feel better :D
