I remember there being a debate about using synthetic v tar roofing under metal. Some were saying they didn't trust synthetic to have as long a life as tar paper. The guy that did mine clearly preferred synthetic for being lighter, not tearing, and not being as slippery to walk on.

Looks like you did a nice job putting tar paper on. Like I mentioned to roofing contractor yesterday if just the tarpaper is installed correctly the roof is watertight!

I like painting houses, too.

Interior painting with the HVAC on isn't so bad. Exterior painting isn't terrible if the weather's pleasant.

Roofing not so much fun anytime.

I’ve shingled a few roofs. I don’t mind it, but with my walking issues now I try to not get on roofs anymore.
I like synthetic felt, won’t use the paper any more.

With a standing seam metal roof, I don't see much walking on it in the future unless they have to install some of those silicone boots around pipe roof penetrations. Not sure what their life expectancy is.
