Sounds like Northeast Ohio is represented well on this forum.

I have a 2 acres I mow with a riding lawn mower. I also have a 1/4 mile gravel driveway I plow with a pick-up truck. Thinking of getting rid of both of them and getting a tractor. First thought I would get the TC26 since it is smaller. Now thinking maybe I should go with something bigger.

Would a TC34 do a nice job of plowing snow with a front end loader? How about moving dirt?

Can I maneuver around trees with the belly mower on a TC34, or is it too big?
They say a FEL is not the best for snow removal

L Brown,

You are correct about the FEL not being good for plowing snow. If I ever sell my pick up truck I am going to buy a front mounted plow/dozer blade attachment. I already have the rear remotes so I can run hoses to the attachment for angling the blade.

Anyone have one of these? I found one on e-bay. Company called Jones Prolift, or something like that.

Wild -- There has been a whole lot of snow moved without having a hydraulic angle adjustment on a rear blade. It's nice, but hardly necessary.

I moved my rear blade to a somewhat modified rear carry-all that now can fit the QA plates on my FEL. I am thinking about adapting the cylinder from my grapple to angle the blade, but there hasn't been any snow to plow yet, so it hasn't seemed worth messing with in comparison to all the other irons I have in the fire. Besides, I want to make sure the odd looking beast works at moving snow before I put any more hours into the project.

I too am a NE Ohio member (Hiram area) and new to the forum. I'm also looking at either a TC26DA or a TC34DA. I have a 4 acre lot that I want to mow, along with putting in a decent sized vegetable garden, installing drain tile in the back of the lot and eventually building a 30'x40' workshop. Widening the gravel driveway is also on the list of things to do. I also would like to get a FEL for moving ground, gravel & mulch.

As for a mower, I'm looking at getting a rear mounted finish mower after reading about MMMs. Anyone have opinions of going with a multi-blade finish mower versus a flail (hammer-knife) mower to cut their lawn?

The lot was part of a farm, so the ground can be soft in parts when it's wet. Will turf tires really make a huge difference over the R4s? I'm not looking for my lawn to look like a golf course, but I'd like to not tear things up too badly & make mud patches.

For putting in the vegetable garden, is it worth the extra expense of investing in a 3pt rototiller versus using a 2 bottom plow & disc?

Do you have enough weight at the rear. I only have turf tires (plus over 500 LBS at 3 pt hitch) & don't have a problem plowing ten feet of packed snow in front of me while I move it aside 20.....30......70 ft.

You just need some traction & weight will give that to you.
