Thinking of buying my first tractor. TC26DA or TC34DA??

My box blade has two cutting blades, one aimed forward and the other facing the rear. It makes a good mini-dozer. I think it is far superior to a FEL for certain things, sometimes snow removal. The downside is having to look over your shoulder so much to drive backwards (after a while on longer straight sections you can just use the mirrors.) A big advantage to the boxblade in reverse is that I have hydraulic TNT on my 3PH. This gives you the ability to make fine adjustments in several directions that a FEL can't begin to duplicate.

My rear blade will not clear the rear tires so it can't be rotated 360 degrees but it can be turned around backwards prior to mounting and all motion being relative (thanks Uncle Albert) if you back up the tractor you get the effect of a front blade. By angling the blade, while driving forward or backwards, you can push snow in one continuous drive instead of having to go through all the manipulations that a FEL requires in snow removal duty. One trip out to the road and one trip back with no backing up and jockying and voila, you are done.

KingKutter blades are not very HD but are just fine for snow clearing and spreading gravel and such for driveway maint. Just don't let a corner dig into the ground and then back up (when mounted for forward driving) as it is easy to tweak one. Again, going forward or backwards with an angle blade when you have TNT gives you finess and agility that no amount of jocking around with a FEL can duplicate.

I am NOT anti-FEL. I have a good HD one and use the heck out of it but not as a substitute angle blade or mini-dozer/grader.

I bought my tractor. TC34 with R4 tires. 14LA loader with quick attach face plate and a 68" bucket. Bought a Woods boxscraper BG65. I also got some rear remotes for future use.

Cheers & Beers on a fine selection !!

Should be fine with the R4's & no FEL attached. Who wants to cut grass with the FEL on anyways.

Send some pics our way & show off your new MEGA-Wheels !!

I've got TC33D with 7308 FEL and 60 in MMM that I used for the past 3 years to mow my 1&1/2 acre lawn. It has R4 tires (non-weighted) and supersteer also. It did a great job mowing but it is a liitle heavy to use on the lawn in the spring when the ground is still soft. With the supersteer you have to be careful making sharp turns as it will push the soil and create bare spots in your yard. If the grass is thin in areas it will muddy them up real quick.I decided to purchase a Scag mower this year for my yard as my Scott's lawn service rep advised not using the tractor because of the weight. The Scag is the trick as I have lots of shrubs and trees to mow around.
I now use the tractor for bushhogging and FEL work and I love it. Don't miss it the mowing!
We received about 18 inches of snow 2 years ago and the tractor with the FEL and R4 tires worked great removing the snow on my concrete driveway which is about a city block long. Hope this info is of help and good luck.

NICE... Kinda envious of the Woods BB. Looks like the 65" is the perfect size for this tractor. What is your experience?

A Markham toothbar would help you a lot with the digging you'll be doing... Just a thought...

Rich,

I was going to get a Landpride 66" or the Woods 65". That's about the right size. It covers the track of the rear wheels and not much more. A toothbar would be nice. So would a set of pallet forks. First thing I want to get is a snow plow for the front. Here is a picture of the scraper.

Wild,

Thanks for the pic, think you made a good choice. I like a lot of the stuff Landpride makes, but am beginning to think that the Woods BB is just slightly better. Maybe its more of Gannon's reputation coming through.

I have a project coming up soon, and I may be forced to get a BB sooner than I originally planned. What should a ballpark price be on the GB 65?

A set of pallet forks are in my future plans also, but Mama wants a garden next spring, so I am going to with a reverse tine tiller before forks. Looks like Land pride has my business on the tiller front...

Enjoy your new toy...er, tool.
