19970530 Friday

After work
Bought cap shingles
Installs caps on dormers
Install 10 ft ridge vent.

I bought these plastic ridge vents that cap shingles go on top.

In 1997, that was new technology!!!

19970531 Saturday

Basement slab poured by concrete guy, Arthur.
Poured leftover in mini pad off the porch.
Installed 5 windows upstairs, 3 front, back BR, end of hall. (One to go)
Build more interior walls upstairs.
FIL helped.

Finish ridge vent and cap shingles.
THE ROOF IS DONE!
Store rest of shingles in shed (later installed on shed, it still had felt on)

Work on master bath walls.

After work
Start electrical (panel is already hot and I have one outlet in basement)

Start nailing on outlet boxes.

After work
Start pull romex in kitchen.

No work on the house on the 4th.
Did mow at house and at the lot.

Pull romex 1st floor
Former coworker Bob helped 2 hrs.

Does the tub get used, or when was the last time anybody used it? I read that they are used 3 times by most people. I've taken out quite a few for clients that want big walk in showers and never used their jetted tub a single time.

We have one, it was in the house when we bought it in 2015. I turned off the breaker to it on day 1 and we have never used it.

Took day off work
Insulation company came to give estimate

Pulled rest of first floor wiring.
Bob helped 4 hours.

Put basement slider door frame together, it wouldn’t fit the hole.
Had a PT 2x8 frame in the pour to create the hole in the poured wall, so I removed the top and replaced it with a PT 1x6, shimmed the ends on top of the edge boards.
Looking at it now, wouldn’t of had to shave much off to get it to fit. Right side is ok, left side is real close.. never did insulate around the door frame apparently from tonight’s pic.

Would love to replace this slider with a French type swing door, where the other side could open to get large items in basement.
As it is, if I need larger opening I unscrew the top door stop and can remove the sliding panel to get more width. Had to do that recently to get an old freezer out, new one in. Really easy to do.
If I need more space, I can then remove a few more screws and the fixed panel comes out.
