Kubota BX25
Last night I crashed the two day old BX25 into the garage door (which we just got this year). The BX was unharmed except for a few minor scratches, but the garage door and frame was completely destroyed. While we were removing the door, it started pouring rain. So we had to try to find tarps to cover the BX, but they were all too small. We tried the best we could to dry it of with rags, but I hope water did not get into the controls. Getting back to the accident...Our garage doors are 8'x8', but the opening is smaller. When I rolled up the door last night (we don't have an opener) the door did not go all the way up, so there was about six inches - a foot that was in the opening. When I pulled out I was looking at the sides to make sure the mower deck would not hit the frame, and I never looked up...Needless to say, I don't think I'll be driving the tractor anymore. (at least for a while) Now all I keep thinking about is all the attachments I could buy for what it is going to cost to replace the door...

Poor guy! Don't feel too bad, the door is fixable and nobody got hurt. I doubt the rain will harm the tractor. If the door went all the way up would you have cleared? Sounds like that is the case so you at least won't have to worry about doing it again.

Oh man, that stinks. I did that exact same thing with mine. I was watching the MMM and forgot about the ROPS. The door and frame are repairable.

As for the BX getting wet, don't worry about it. The dealer lots are full of tractors that get rained on. These things are tough.

You'll still be able to get implements, you just have to wait a bit longer. :(

Don't worry about the rain on the tractor, they are made to be out in the weather. There are plenty of tractors that have never seen the inside of a garage, barn or shed.

There are two kinds of tractor drivers:

1. Those who have broken something.
2. Those who haven't broken anything YET.

About the only way not to tear something up is not to do much.

As hours/experience increase, the likelihood of this decreases, but is never completely eliminated.

I fretted about which tractor to purchase for a long time, and one small but important factor was whether or not the ROPS would clear the garage door. So the one I pick measures 95 1/2" at the tip of the ROPS, and my door is 95 1/4"...figured that was close enough that i could get it to work, but that i'll need to carefully get into the garage the first time to check it out.

So, what do i do? Take delivery of the tractor, and as I'm driving around the house as happy homeowner, i go roaring into the garage like a moron. Only when i get off and see the ROPS standing proud as a peacock do i realize that i completely skipped the whole 'careful checking' process.

"Whew", i think, "must fit!" So what do i do? Back 'er out without a care, hook the header over the opening and tear off some trim at the top of the garage. I'm sure there's a good explanation why it works one way and not the other, but it didn't matter, I just sat there and shook my head for a bit.

Yes it sucks bad, but don't beat yourself up over it too much. Maybe this thread will make you feel better:

Glad no one was hurt. Zillions of tractors of all types are stored outdoors their entire lives. A few nights in the weather will work out fine.

Well, we got it back in after we removed the door. Now there is a tarp in its place.

Don't feel bad, I've ran into the edge of my door opening a couple of times with my end loader, I forget how far out it sticks out in front of the tractor. I've also torn up some siding on our garage by getting to close.
