Harv,

Feel for you on that drill getting you, I was putting a hitch on my dad's truck and he handed me his 1/2" 18V dewalt saying, be carefull it really has some tourque. Opening up some holes in his frame with a 1/2" cobalt bit, I found him to be correct, drove the back of my hand into a protruding bolt on the frame and took months to get to feeling better.

That said, on some of the pictures, there is something on the front roof of Iris, I think it looks like a winch cable running over the top to the Gin Pole?

Am I seeing things or is there some support there?

Have you ever had a problem with Iris and that singel sided arm?

Thanks for positing the pics, they really are an inspiration too me.

Harv, you need to make one change to your gin-pole. Take off that electric winch (give it to me) and replace it with a hydraulic one. Use your aux hydraulics to run it. Now that would be neat. Better yet, find a hydraulic winch and just give to me and I'll build my own. That would be even neater.

Hmmmmm, proper terms, in Texas?

btw I do appreciate the weather change, there's too much to be done outside to be having so much inside weather.

Alan, JCB has been making Load Alls since Load Alls (sky track etc) have been made. They're all single armed and you can get them to forty or fifty foot reach and twelve thousand pounds capacity. I've never heard of a hiccup on the single arm, they're warranted for life anyways. But every time I rent a tracked skid steer like a Bobcat etc I miss the heck out of that side door.

My battery on the tractor is above the motor in the back. So I bought a set of long jumper cables and run them over the top of the tractor to run the winch that's on the gin pole rig.

Gary, I've and had and have my eyes open for the deal of a lifetime on a hydraulic motor that can be made into a winch for the gin pole rig. That would be the ultimate. Electric winch is a little tough because just a tap still moves a couple of inches where with a hydraulic I could move it fractions of an inch at a time.

Shane, what's with Canada? It seems every week or so some lawyer up there wants to represent me and my patent application up there. I haven't heard anything from the US patent office, do the Canadians have an in we don't know about?

Don, Glenda had a sitdown heart to heart with me this morning. She thinks we need to consider carrying the theme from the bridge over to the entryway. She says I've done two of these cedar thingys and they're getting to be common place.

If you get a chance grab Karen by whatever you grab Karen by and mosey out into the woods and study the bridge for a bit. Glenda might have a good point. (Grab Ron by whatever you grab Ron by too, properly of course, he's part and parcel of this crew)

This morning I had a Gary Davis moment. I could tell it was a Gary Davis moment because my helper (the fella with the cedar staircase) gave me that look I'm sure he gives Gary all the time when they work together.

I guess he'd never seen an old ex-lineman use some half inch rope for a safety while working hands free. (Don't laugh, someday you'll be closer to sixty than you are to fifty eight)
