So I bought a PTO mount trailer hitch receiver. It seem that it could also be a good and fairly simple way to add weight by just buying a 2" hitch
and putting weight on it.....for example just build a box around one and fill the box with concrete and a little rebar. Then just put it into the hitch receiver when I want the ballast on the back. Think this would work..???

I assume you mean 3 point hitch receiver?

Look something like this? If so then yes it should work fine..

I see a lot of guys that have a cement block with the male end cemented inside it and they slide it right in to the hitch..

Concrete weighs about 150 pounds per cubic foot... a 2x2x1 ft block would be 4 cu-ft or about 600 pounds....

You can work out from there how much ballast weigh you may need....

And some have gone full three point hitch (or quick hitch)...

I booked marked that site for future acquisition. I only have the rear mount snow blower at this point so the need for quick hitching isn't pressing, but I can see how that would really be a convenient addition when I have the chipper, hitch receiver and ballast to swap.

That link to "quick--hitch" is a marketing ploy by web page.... I use a rigid Frame Cat-1 hitch....

I like the BE brand because it uses a different top hook arrangement for adjustment other then the two bolt hook tha everyone needs to modify for clearance...

A person could then slide it in the receiver on the truck to move it or for weight!
