One thing to compare in tillers is the number of tines per row. Some only have 4 and the higher quality ones will have 5. I thought Landpride was chain drive. I think gear drive are better as you don't have to worry about adjusting the chain tension which is really guess work as you cant see the chain to determine if it has stretched. Thickness of metal on the frame and shields is another thing to consider along with total weight, a heavier tiller will till deeper than a light weight.
I find the tillers extremely easy to pull HP wise and I don't think you would have an issue with a 72" tiller, certainly not with a 60" as long as the weight of them doesn't exceed your lift capacity.

Hi Nanook;
If you haven't purchased a tiller yet I have a Kubota FL1000 tiller in very good mechanical shape with new tines you may want to consider.
I now have a 60" Kuhn so that one needs to go.

I used a 5' Howard HR4 tiller with my garden tractor (x749) which has about 17-18 ptohp which worked satisfactorily but not great. With 23 ptohp you should be fine and I would recommend forward rotation too. As mentioned above the reverse rotation tends to hold the tractor back some and would need more hp to use. Both forward and reverse tine tillers work pretty well and I have had both, I wouldn't spend more money to get either one. A 60" KK is a good bang for the buck and should serve you well.
