Does the KK have the reversible tine rotation feature like the Tarter? Ken Sweet
No, but they do offer some reverse tine tillers that we choose not to put on our website. We do offer a couple different models of reverse rotation tillers but RARELY sell any.
I think the forward tine tiller is a much better choice for gardening/food plots because you can control the depth easier, the load on your tractor is less and you don't have to worry as much about rocks flying at the back of your tractor.
Have you calculated the time it would take to change one of those to reverse mode?

So we are straight on this, the Tarter is not a copy of the KK. The Tarter has the reverse feature and KK does not. I have changed a Tarter Geardrive over to reverse rotation and it took about 1 1/2 hour and that is a old man that has not worked in the shop in a few years. Ken Sweet

Not an exact copy.
I'm curious. On the Tarter, what is the protective shield that goes from the main gearbox to the side drive made out of?

Googling indicates that KK,Countyline & Tarter are very, very similar.

Topoe, It looks like you have a good discussion going here--IF you are interested in who is copying who. Now if they would get into topics such as gauge of metal, ease of repair, warranty, etc. it would really be helpful.

Don't you think it is kinda misleading to put a 11 rotor KK tiller picture up against a much smaller 7 rotor Tarter Tiller? Lets play fair here. Ken Sweet

Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead but it was the best front view I had. That was a pic of the 84" king kutter with 11 rotors and a clevis hitch.
Here is a pic of the 72" king kutter tiller with 9 rotors next to the 72" tarter tiller with 7 rotors. Like I said, not an exact copy.

You are still showing a 9 rotor KK versus a 7 rotor in the Tarter brand. Ken Sweet

How much does each 7' tiller weigh IE KK vs Tarter?????????

/ tillers #30
Off the top of my head the Tarter 6 ft weighs 800 and the KK II weighs 780. I will look up the 84" when I get to my books. Ken Sweet

The 6 ft Tarter has 8 rows with 6 tines per rotor and the King Kutter website show 6 ft in the parts manual 8 rows of tines with 6 tines per rotor? Ken Sweet
The KK website I went to said this:
Part No. - 505054
Description:
TILLER TINE SET 72IN
27R AND 27L

27 left tines + 27 right tines = 54 tines total divided by 6(tines per flange) = 9 rotors = 9 rows of tines with 6 tines per rotor on a 6 ft King Kutter(72" tiller)

I tried to do the same on tarter's website and in their owners manual but the info is not given anywhere. All I had to go by is the pic on your website that shows a new 6ft tiller with 7 rotors on a pallet.

I just counted the rows on the 72 inch in the parts breakdown and there are 8 rows. Maybe they can get it corrected when they get time? Ken Sweet

I just counted the rows on my 7 yr old 6 ft KK tiller and there were 9(nine) rows= 54 tines

They have the right quantities if you click on the tine sets but they use the same drawing for every size on the website. Even the 48" parts drawing shows 8 rotors.

Here is the reality:

Model# / Width / #tines / flanges
TG-48/ 48"/ 36/ 6
TG-60/ 60"/ 42/ 7
TG-72/ 72"/ 54/ 9
TG-84/ 84"/ 66/ 11

Now, if we get all that info on the tarter then we'll have something to go on.

Well, If we could get reverse rotation capable on a forward rotation tiller like Tarter at basically the same price point as KK, progress will indeed may made. What is the tine scroll diameter on the KK? It is 16" in the Tarter which should give about a max tilling depth of 7 inches, if buried to the axle. Forward or reverse capabilities all come in the same machine on the 4 ft, 5 ft and 6 ft Tarter. Ken Sweet

I've run my KK tiller several hrs and I think there's no way to get it to till 7"s deep with the skid shoes in place and at their highest position. I'd have to measure it to believe a Tarter will till 7"s deep. Maybe my soil is too hard.

Does the power takeoff shaft have to be cut, or does it come the correct lengh ?
I asked the dealership that I bought my tiller from to cut the PTO shaft. They kind of looked at me like I had just shot their dog but then went ahead and cut it for me. They must have wanted the sale and I had bought the 7510 there a few years before.

I figured if it was cut wrong and it blew out the rear end of my tractor they could make it right.
