Here's an updated pick of the kitchen. Just have a few stones to place at the bottom of the window sill and some mortar to run next to the countertops now that they are finally installed. The range hood was actually made for an island. I decided to use it instead of a standard wall hood so we could float it and expose more of the stone.
Going into the build we had a pretty good vision of what we wanted. The only major change was switching from stained alder to painted cabinets. I was worried about getting too much wood in one place since we are doing hardwoods in the kitchen. I wasn't sure about our switch, especially using two different cabinet colors and two different slabs of granite however we are really happy with the end result. The hardest part of the design so far for me has been lighting. I really struggled with the lighting side of the build, especially placement and amount.
