Thanks for all the info thus far. Having survived one winter without chains, I think we will get chains for the rear only. Then, if we feel the need, we can buy front chains later. Why spend $250 + if you don't have to right?

Whistlepig's ladders look good with the two extra runners. I understand that traditional ladders, though, can get buried in the tread, which is why I am leaning toward double-ladder and/or double ring. The "rungs" cannot slip between tread.
