There used to be a video floating around where someone did 1 rear tire and then tried to drive in some snow. The non-grooved tire just spun and spun. Once he hit the diff lock and forced the engagement to the grooved tire the tractor moved forward. Seemed about as "scientific" as it gets.

My point was if grooving your tires enables you to perform your work now without 4wd, then the work you are performing is relatively easy. Not sure what your intelligence has to do with that.![]()
