TIRED OF WINTER

Got to say that I also like the white one. Just think no bugs flying into your hair, in your face or up your nose. Also I have never seen a snake in the snow. But I also like all 4 seasons.

Actually, the only good thing I can say about winter is after living through another one, I really appreciate the other seasons we have. Yesterday I received an email from one of my former supervisors who goes south during the winter, he was griping about it being 92 degrees in Florida, so today I sent him one noting that it was below zero this morning where I live. Hopefully that made him feel better. And I REALLY like having no bugs around.

yeh! i like them also, nothing better than smelling fresh cut grass in may, or the colors and smells of autum, and the ability to sit and watch a snow storm in the winter. summer ain't bad either, we get 2 days of it, usually in july /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I spent a near perfect afternoon out on the ice with my father in law. We caught a few fish and had a great time. Temp in the 20s, stiff breeze 10-20 MPH, full sun.

Yesterday was even better... my 6 year old asked if I would take her ice fishing. So off we went. Put out a few lines, she sat on the bucket fishing for about, oh, I'd have to say at least 3 minutes. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Then we put all the fishing stuff away and went for a long walk around the lake. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got the same request this weekend. After spending hours getting things ready to go, drilling holes and setting up the cold had set it to the youngons and it was time to go. But you know they tell all there friends about the great time they had on there first ice fishing experience. I guess the hole digging was quite fun to watch. Who would have thought. Maybe next time we might at least Waite for a nibble and could you imagine the story they would be telling then. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

nice picture, i hope u are archiving them to disk? WHERE ARE THE FISH /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

   / TIRED OF WINTER #29
Thanks. I archive everything to another computer and eventually to CDs. I keep one CD at home and a duplicate at work.

The fish!? Well, they weren't biting that day. There were about 8 people out there and we only saw one fish in an hour. The walk was much more rewarding. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Kids are the best reason to fish!

All of my grandkids are at least two hundred miles away.

But the other day we were invited by my youngest to a 4D sonogram viewing of what's growing inside of her. I got myself a real deal grandson in that garage! And it's going to be raised close to where I live!

It was fun, the viewing. There we, family and friends, sat. Nurse and daughter behind us and us facing a plasma screen on the wall. He's only about the size of a Hershey Bar.

Nurse asked if we wanted to know the *** of the baby. There was a chorus confirming her suspicion.

Supertoot did us a flip and we got a bottoms up view. It was obvious to me that kind of equipment came from his mother's side of the tree, judging by size and placement of course. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It will be nice having a grandson in the neighborhood.

The only thing that scares me is the skipping generations thing. They say if you want to see what the child is going to be like look at the grandparents more than the parents as far as inate talents etc.

I imagine that only one more scared of that scenario than me is my daughter. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Congratulations grandpa! Isn't that amazing? A picture of the little one before he's born. I remember the doctor's visits with my wife for both our children when you get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. The doctor is moving the transciever around and around on her belly and then, all of a sudden, psh psh psh psh really fast over and over. Big smiles and big tears. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The best times I have fishing are when the kids are catching them so fast that I don't have time to get a line in the water. I just sit back and watch them, help em with the hooks, bait, etc...

Best wishes on the new grandbaby! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've got four already, three in OKC and one in southern California.

Everyone who knows me knows that the best thing about me is my wife. She like most folks, was put off by my ways at first. But I won the heart of her mother and her five year old grandaughter, she didn't stand a chance after that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That five year old is now a sophomore at OU. She has two brothers, one sixteen, and one who just turned thirteen late last month. Probably the greatest thing that can happen to a cranky cuss like me is to have three kids love me and think of me as their grandpa when they really don't have too.

I have a two year old in California that I've seen twice. I wish she was closer but it appears that isn't in the cards.

The poor kid will definately have a deprived life if history is a window to the future.

When the sixteen year old was ten I overheard him tell a friend, "I can't talk now. My grandpa from Texas is here. He's the one that I told you about. He can make anything."

He was on the phone when we came through the door. It was the first time anyone had ever referred to me as "grandpa" in my presence. Sorta kinda marked me for life if you know what I mean.

Speaking of being Tired of Winter, Harv, this morning we've got the most snow I've seen in several years, and it's still snowing. I guess you'll get a day off from work today, won't you?

It does snow in Dallas; not very often and not very much, but occasionally. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I tend to keep busy enough I don't mind having cold in between snowmobiling and my other duties. I really just hate having to change the clothes all the time from summer to winter time. I guess it probably helps with my wife being a teacher and requireing her vacation times to be in warm weather. So I'll tell you more after next week with getting stuck in Key Largo!

If you look at Lucy you will notice a whole bunch of pipe on the back. A little later this morning I'm heading to Bonham to weld up three gates and do some playing with the plasma.
