TL90 or TN95

Sitting in a TS then a TL then a TD, you notice the fit and finish on the cab in the TD is a notch down. The multitude of big old school floor levers like a Kioti or Belarus is the next item of note, I'm not a big fan of because I generally have chains tow straps tools etc laying on the floor of the cab and I don't like bumping into shifters getting in and out of the cab.

The front axle on the TD looks to be much cheaper and a lower grade casting compared to the others. Considering I've been warned about splitting the TL's axle by several NH owners I am certainly skeptical. Then again my Kubota's axle has been great despite all the naysayers about their design.

The ergonomics seem to be a step back from other NH models too. Cab heat and controls look to be a generation back.

Really I shouldn't pick, its to be expected given the cost of the tractor, just not used to seeing it in a NH. I think looking at an open station model I'd be much more favourable in my opinion.

The reason the TDD's cab is like that is because of the fact it is an economy tractor. NH didn't spec it to be fancy like the TL and TS-A because then it would just be another TL or TS.

Overall I love the TDD as it has a great reputation (the JX version has been out for quite a few years before the TDD and the Case-IH guys love them), a great price and appears to be built solid (factoring in the current reputation). I would not think twice about owning one but then again I am use to floor shifters and more old school design. The local dairy farms run the JX version and are very hard on them. If they can't break them I don't think I will:eek:

But this is why NH offers so many different models. They generally have something for everyone depending on your needs. But you should never compare the TDD to the TS-A as that is just unfair as every cab in that class is inferior to the TS-A's cab;)

You took the words right out of my mouth. After what a I saw last weekend (a TS115 and a new T6000) you are doing yourself an injustice by sitting in that tractor then sitting in something else.

But comparing the Kioti's to a Belarus  , that's not fair.;)

Not comparing the tractor, just the controls layout! The Case CX series in much more popular locally than the JX but I think they are similar to the TS in terms of trim level.

What I'm really looking for is a tractor in that class with hydraulic reverser and a dual speed option for baling. Hard to move away from my hydro for baling when I can't afford an IVT or real powershift.

Does the JXC or JXU series not fit what you are looking for?

I have only used a few hydro tractors but never for baling but I do love dual power for baling. If you really want to stay with a hydro you can look at a TV145. The cab isn't as nice as the T6000 but those tractors are very handy. Just make sure you have a front 3pt and pto so you have the option to use front mounted implements :)

When you say dual power are referring to 540/1000 pto?

Dual Power is the NH term for a power shift transmission. Ive heard it also called partial power shift. Each gear has a hi/lo and you can shift between them w/o clutching on the go.

 I think the tractor market is worst than the car market with these patented names for their terms and ideas. Sometimes too many option and choices is worst than not having none at all.

What he said:)

There is a button on the floor of the tractor that you hit to downshift something like 15% in speed which increases tourqe in the process. It is handy when haying if you need to slow down for a heavier section of windrow or if you get to a headland and need to turn sharper. It is also real handy for tillage.

I will say this, after using it I have no idea how I managed to live without it;)

Oh, I'm not knocking it by any means. It makes perfect sense, it beats having to grab a lower gear for sure. But all the different names, phrases, etc. I don't remember studying this hard when I was in school. Not to mention having 3 or 4 choices in transmissions to choose from. I man could go insane before he even gets his tractor in the field.
