I checked G1 range gear switch and C1 gear switch with ohm meter in tractor and they were with in specs 560ohms and 2760ohm +/-30 ohms

Replace the transmission pressure switch, or swap it with the one for the 4WD (same part #).

I think I already tried this but I will try again

Thanks Ryan

I didn't see where you mentioned it. One of the few things that will disable the transmission, prevent calibration, and make one used and one new ECM appear to be non-functional without throwing a fault code. Don't ask how I know this; but I do remember quite well.

Thanks for the info Rick!! I'll keep that one logged in my memory for when I try and fix my TN70S. I'm still wrestling with my PowerShuttle problem, too... Since my local dealer went out of business, I'm a bit SOL with respect to getting anyone out here to help fix - to I'm thinking about buying the diagnostic tool along with a new ECM and hoping for the best. Do you know if I'll need anything other than the diagnostic tool listed in this thread? A dealer that's a few hours away from me mentioned that his tech needed to drive up here with his laptop in order to properly program the ECM - that seems weird to me, but I don't know squat when it comes to these things... Rather than have the poor guy drive several hours to get to me, I'd just as well program the thing myself. The ECM has gone out on me a few times, and I figure it will happen again - so I want to be self-sufficient now that I don't have a local dealer...

Do you have a Case IH dealer nearby? Same as Case JX model.

Also, eBay is a place to get your hands on diagnostic tool.

I tried this yesterday with no change. See post #10.

I still get a U30 code while attempting to calibrate the A solenoid.

Everything I have done always leads back to not being able to calibrate the clutch solenoids.

Unfortunately, all the Case IH dealers were co-located with the New Holland dealers. Over the last couple of years, all the small dealers in my area got bought up by a larger dealer, and then that larger dealer went out of business a few months ago. The only one left anywhere near me is Coastal Tractor, and they're a few hours away and apparently very busy.

Does your 4WD icon work properly with either pressure switch installed?

My book lists a U30 code as "Clutch pack (A) value higher than 480 Ma." I would try swapping the coils between the forward and reverse solenoids for effect. If the coil is a problem, the code should change to U28, indicating the same issue, only with the (B) clutch pack.

How about actually measuring the coil current with a meter?

That's a valid question, however actual current measurement requires interupting the circuit somewhere and inserting a meter between the two points. This is far more difficult than a simple voltage or resistance reading. By simply switching the coils, you not only check the coil, but the integrity of the entire circuit including the controller. If the code changes, as it should, You know the system works and it's actually sensing a problem with the coil, and not just showing a false reading. Error codes are an indication of why the tractor is not performing properly, but not necessarily proof.
