TN65s won,t move forward or reverse

I sometimes wonder if we haven’t digressed instead of progressed when it comes to tractors and other mechanized farm equipment. Call for service and a tech shows up driving a van with enough electronic test equipment inside to launch a space shuttle. When he leaves ones wallet feels like he just purchased an interest in a space shuttle.

Yeah. Thank goodness none of my tractors have that problem.

There are "open jaw" and "current clamp" testers out there, that can tell you the current drawn without splitting the cable. Just more money to spend...

Does your 4WD icon work properly with either pressure switch installed?

Yes

You can hear the 4wd solenoid clicking and 4wd engaging when the tractor is running.

My book lists a U30 code as "Clutch pack (A) value higher than 480 Ma." I would try swapping the coils between the forward and reverse solenoids for effect. If the coil is a problem, the code should change to U28, indicating the same issue, only with the (B) clutch pack.

I get the U30 and the U28 code when I try to calibrate A or B. I have tried swapping coils with no change.

Hi Ryan,
Any progress with the problem? I'm curious to hear if you were able to fix it or not. I'm still wrestling with my PowerShuttle issue... I got the diagnostic tool, and it's showing the "41" error code - but when I go in and try to clear the code (using HF menu), it won't clear it. I also tried to re-calibrate the forward clutch, and it wouldn't allow it - but didn't give me any error codes saying why it wouldn't work. So, I figure either my ECM is bad and can't be worked with, or the diagnostic tool I have is broken (holding the "down" button, for example, doesn't do anything - which either means the tool is broken, or the ECM won't respond to it...). These electronics are a bit frustrating to deal with.

I asked if the dashboard icon was functional for the 4WD. The sole purpose of the 4WD pressure switch is to control that light bulb. If the pressure switch from the tranny makes to 4wd light go on and off whan installed in the 4WD circuit, it prettty much proves the switch is OK.

No change. I had a mechanic from our local New Holland here to look at it on Friday afternoon. I have not had a chance to talk to him yet but the tractor is still sitting in my shop the way I left it for him. It is not looking good.

I even had to lend him my diagnostic tool as he did not bring one. Although he did bring some info from New Holland that I do not have access to.

I talked with the mechanic that looked at the tractor on Friday.

He thinks that the transmission coupler may have stripped out.

I still wonder why the A and B clutch hydraulics wont pressure up? He figures that the clutch packs are not spinning so the ECM won't activate the solenoids and won't allow calibration.

My manuals do not cover what this coupler looks like. I will call them for a parts break down.
