I completely missed tank below the axle...why did they do that? LOL, I would have looked for it but wouldnt have supposed it would be like that. I figured it was all mostly stuffed behind/under the seat or some such instead of hanging around the worst possible place for puncture. Since the plate is std now I guess they rethought the layout...well youd hope they did. Good input, very appreciated, thanx!!! Next time Im at the dealer I should start looking for the unlikely.

Brian...so your TN is down again? Whats wrong this time? I thought you had all the bugs solved and were working on your boomer.

I got crap in the fuel tank
They had it for 4 days (and $450 worth) and I take it back out and within an hour it's doing the same thing.
That one isn't NH's fault, but it is the dealer's fault.
I'm taking it back in this morning and it's their last chance, ever
At that point, names come out (and I mean everywhere) and I can tell just how "good" this dealer is.
I'm beyond livid.

As a business this is costing you well beyond actual repair cost. Id cut to the chase and find another dealer. You cant remain solvent by messing about like this.

After reading thru your posts it sounds a lot like the dealer is trying to run you off. I can't imagine he could treat all his cusomters this way and remain in business.

I can't figure it out.
I spend tons of money there, have a good relationship with the salesguy (send him people, he sends us people)
but their service department is utterly and completely worthless.

They claim they found the problem now (with the TN, i have zero hope on the TC) and have a solution. Fine, go for it. But my fear is they are going to charge me again, for the work they should have done to begin with. If they do, I'm going to walk away, and name names.

Most ag tractors have the tanks down low as you want the weight low to keep the center of gravity down. Also, on the larger ag tractors it allows you to fill the tractor from the ground. The older Ag tractors had the tank up higher and it is a pain to fill the tank as you hang on to the side of the tractor.

Brian: You seem to have some dealer choice in your area. Id start shopping now and find one who is willing to support your business. While its really nice they refer you what good does it do w/o reliable equipment and someone who knows how to keep it running?

Robert: Understand about having the weight low but if youre going to do that w/ a plastic tank it needs to be shielded from damage and for sure limit the exposure profile. That said Im not sure any of the tractors up to the TL series are all that convenient to fuel. My 24 was a pain and from the look of it the TN would be depending on which tires you had on it.

Ive never looked under a TL but w/ the low (and very convenient) tank fill I wonder if its exposed too.

So, to the OP, besides my dealer who's LTO (and If i hadn't contaminated the fuel, don't ask), my TN would be running strong.
I'm very happy with the tractor
it's got power to spare, it rides REALLY well, it's got great comfort, it's got all kinds of niceities. My favorite is the instant raise (I guess, not sure what it's called), you get to the end of a row, you click a button and it zips up the 3 point, you turn around and press the button again and down it goes, no muss, no resetting, no losing where you were, it's great.

Get the cab.

I have never had a problem but my TN came with the guard (well I think it has it but can't remember for sure). If it was an option it was one my dealer added in with the price of the quote as they will intentionally order things on these machines if they know they should have them for the use they will see.

New Holland sells a lot of these tractors to small farms who use these machines in open fields. The people who want to use these machines in brush and other areas where stuff will pop out should order the guard (I guess it is standard now but again I am not sure). The tank is very solid even being plastic and if you use your head working with brush and such you shouldn't have a problem. The people who do keep poking holes in these tanks use their tractors like a bulldozer with no regard to whats under the tractor.

I really do not think this is that big of an issue though. If the guard is an option, order it and don't worry about it.

Well, like I said in the beginning I would have never thought of getting a skid plate for my application. My fields are dead flat w/ no unhappy surprises. So, I think Im good w/ or w/o the plate. :D I think Ill still take a look see underneath. Im sure itll be instructive.

I just need to find out what the various tranmissions have to offer and Im going to place the order. Thanx for all the input and yacking about this & that. :D

Is the fuel tank the lowest point on the tractor? What I mean, is it the limiting factor for ground clearance and if so how many inches of clearance does it have?
