Is the fuel tank the lowest point on the tractor? What I mean, is it the limiting factor for ground clearance and if so how many inches of clearance does it have?

no
it's even with the transmission, a bunch of pipes, etc etc etc

the ground clearance question depends on the tires.
It's not an option anymore, they all come with a big old steel plate between the tank and the ground.

The bulk of the tank is below the left rear axle. The part you see behind the seat is just a small tank to give the TN more capacity.
Exactly.

Glad to hear it. Needs to be standard.

Thanks for the info. I use my tractors a lot in vegetable rows and usually when working 2 rows the plants pass under the axle maybe 10-13" just inside the centerline of the tires so you have some extra clearance there compared to under the tranny and differential. It seems like this tank location would take away the clearance in that area.

Is this the common location on all modern brands of utility and CUT machines or do some still have the tank mounted up high. I think I recall my neighbor complaining to me that the tank on his JD 5200 open station (1996?) had the tank behind the seat and it blocked his view to the rear of what was going on, also in vegetables.

Most of the ag tractors now have the tank set up this way to make fueling easier. If you are looking for a tractor to work in vegetables they have tire options and tractor options to give you more clearance. There was a poster on here who put tall, skinny tires on his TN to work in his fields.

But the fuel tank is about equal to the front axle anyway so if your plants are going to hit the front axle then chances are they will touch the tank also.

Was at the dealer today and looked at the tank below the tractor. It hangs down very little and to me is a nonissue. Its nice NH makes the plate std but if you hit something immobile at speed I think the tank and plate are toast anyway. Given the weight of the machine the plate is just a token attempt at protection. BTW there are pipes of various sizes down there too which are unprotected. Theres a lot to ruin if you 'run aground' besides the fuel tank.

Noticed there is an inline transparent fuel filter upstream of the primary can filter. That makes it easy to see 1) if theres fuel to the primary and 2) if theres crud in the fuel. It looks like some of the trim has to be removed to change the primary. The inline looked easy but could be messy unless you clamp off the lines prior to removal.

Room underneath the hood is spare unless you want to access the battery or air filter. Everything else looks like a royal pain to reach. Whats that plastic tank way in the back? It had something green in it.

This machine appeared to have a single hydraulic filter (very large) that was easy to access. Im not sure which side of the pump its on and the dealer also didnt know. Any ideas?

The salesman (at the NC dealership) priced out the same rig I gave to my local (TN) dealer + a weight rack and came in at $1k less w/ an indication perhaps more could come off w/ further negotiation. He priced the PS/16x16 at an additional $1300.

After some searching around he did find a ground speed charts some of which are below. I do have the fast (25mph) 16x16 chart and will post it if theres any interest. It does look like, as Robert mentioned, that the 16x16 shares many of the same speeds w/ the 12x12. The BL/BH ranges look pretty useful.

Well, that chart looks pretty bad. I didnt think it would squeeze out the spaces. Any ideas on how to make it readable? Sorry...

Yep. don't see it as an issue.

Trust me, there's no inline filter. I know more about the fuel system about my TN than I really ever wanted to. They (dealer) put one in, and it's a real good idea but not from the factory at least in 07. (mine was made April 07). The spin on fuel filter can be changed without removing anything but opening the hood. (well, you know, I have a cab model, so perhaps that could be different, but on mine, all the above is true)

Room underneath the hood is spare unless you want to access the battery or air filter. Everything else looks like a royal pain to reach. Whats that plastic tank way in the back? It had something green in it.
Overflow tank for radiator. Everything isn't bad but the injectors. They are a serious pain (the turbo gets in the way). Everything else is real easy.
