Thanks to all our vets......your service to our country is very much appreciated. A special thanks to all the WW II vets......we lost my wife's mother last December........she served as a Navy Wave during the war......served as a nurse for those returning from the South Pacific. Thank a vet today.......if you know a WW II vet......say hello......they won't be around much longer!!

A big "THANK YOU" for all that have and are serving!!!

Having worked for Raytheon as an Engineer on the Patriot and Trident Missile Systems for over 20 years, it was an honor to provide our servicemen with systems that saved lives. When visiting the White Sands Test Range I was always impressed with the dedication and respect of our young men and women serving. I felt privileged to work with them.

God Bless to all our Vets and Active Military for keeping us safe!!!

Now if only we had a VA that would support us vets instead of paying bonus and holding conventions in Vegas! Try to get a va appointment... takes many months or years. Deny until we die is the va motto. Did 21 years active duty Navy... shouldn't have a medical bill for the rest of my life. Just spent 4 days in the hospital with a $8,000 bill. Closest va hospital is 100 miles away.

The way our respective goobermints (Canada and U.S.) are treating the vets is deplorable.

Yes, thanks to all the vets for your service. As others have said though, my Navy days also provided me some growing up and got me headed in the right direction. Was listless before that. Many good memories. The bad ones have mostly faded ;-)

This is a turn around that I never expected to see......Most Vet Days, we come on the various forums and salute ourselves. Have never experienced this feeling and honestly don't know how to handle it. I come from those folks that were spit upon for doing our DUTY back in the 70's...6-5-65>>>7-5-75. Was a COLD WAR warrior mostly and then got hurt and discharged. When I got out of the hospital for my first "day pass" to go to downtown San Antonio for some "fun", while waiting at the bus stop was spit on as folks surrounded me and let me know that they didn't appreciate baby killers......
Carried this, like Richard, even until now. The treatment of the Desert Storm Warrior showed me the world appreciated them just like they did the WWII guys and then the warriors of today get that ongoing love and respect that this country owes all of us.....Not expecting anything as the healing process is slow.
Today, went to my grand daughter's elementary school program for vets.....Stand out in front with all the other invited guests/relatives while they sang, read thanks and what to them a vet is, and pledged to the flag after the Star Spangled Banner. All made me so proud to be there and to actually be saluted by them. My baby doll princess taking my hand and going down the hall to the cafeteria for breakfast was and is priceless for HER pride in her warrior.
Her class invited me to speak about what I wanted so gave a brief summary of my various duties and stations over my 10 years. Like Eddy, I would not be who I am if I HAD NOT SERVED. We are special, made that way by our service to this country. Finally this old guy has seen a country that is actually, for real, and proud of those who were and are their warriors.....My brothers and sisters, I SALUTE YOU.................God bless these United States......Dennis

To all Vets who served in Nam. Forgive us as a country for not thanking you sooner for all you did. THANKS..

Ed,

While I appreciate your heart IS in the thanks, in retrospect.....WHAT exactly did we do ? Did we have any real purpose there ? Was our country in any danger ? Are we any safer today for what it cost ?

I mean other than get 58k+ guys killed, spend a few hundred billion bucks providing profits and jobs in the war tech industry, what the heck ?

We now sell Vietnam Coca Cola (maybe THAT is our payback ?) and buy cheap textile/tennis shoe products from them.

If the whole place had gone Communist in the 50's-60's instead of in the mid 70's when we finally left, what possible difference would it have made ?

I think folks need to wake up and realize we vets were simply the enforcement arm of corporate America, and still are. There is absolutely ZERO need in being in the sand box for the last 20 years.....other than it is quite profitable for certain industries.

I say thank you not because the USA was doing things the right way but because you served us and did your best. In other words I am thanking you not the politicians. It was not you that did wrong but you paid the price for the wrong that was done. That is why I say thank you, and please forgive us for placing blame on you for others actions. Ed
