Too good to be true?

Most people can't comment from having first person experience with this type of ad. That's because most people recognize it as a scam and quickly move on. The wire transfer is the kicker. If you think you can get that nice of a machine for $15K, then you can easily afford the airplane ticket (in first class) with the savings you will realize and go see the machine in person and pay some one to transport it. It's ridiculous to even consider that this is ANYTHING but a scam.

If you wonder why they offer it so far below market value, it's because they want the obvious rube to respond. That price eliminates the intelligent buyers.

Please comment only if you’ve had direct experience with this type of Facebook marketplace ad. They say that their prices are low because they are brokering repo machines. Of course, they want a wire transfer.

I contacted an ad on facebook which was in Texas. I told them my cousin drives a flat bed semi and would be thru Texas the following week and I would have him look it over and if good will pay for it and haul it to me. They back peddled immediately. It’s a scam!

I bought my Kubota skid steer through an online ad. Before doing any payment I took the ride to MB Tractor in southern Maine to see it. They are a legit business with locations in NH and Mass also. If I were you I'd want to see it in person and make sure it's for real. For that price I wouldn't think so.

I would bet maintenance is not high on machines that end up in the repo yard

Most people who got swindle by such a scam ... Probably wouldn't own up to it either!

In general, I find Marketplace ads dubious at best. Sellers don't respond to inquires, they hide contact information so it's virtually impossible to contact them, and they post and retract and then repost ads on a regular basis. I don't know if it's entertainment for them or if they're just plain dumb but I won't do business with them

I found this gem of a spam advertisement on Craigslist today while poking around. Say's it is local, shows 3 different backhoes in the photos and nothing looks like the local area. You can also see a trend of "milky" looking photos in spam ads. Probably from being copied too many times.

Yup, SCAM!

Look at the water mark they didn't blur out very good!

Dang Shawn, you've got eyes like a hawk! I wasn't even looking for watermarks there were so many other red flags. Some of the yard photos show roadside bush hogging tractors set up like they do in the deep south.

Above average scam post though. Who wouldn't want a cabbed $20k pre-emission backhoe in decent shape? Even when I lived on 1.5 manicured acres - LOL.

I have had personal experience with one of the so called "Brokers" on FB. I can tell you in a word DONT. Don't do it. It is a scam. They did not get my money but came very close to it. At the last minute my better judgement told me to do more research. If you look for it you will find the exact same ad, but in different locations. When I really put the squeeze on, he disappeared.
